Other thoughts come to mind as I think about this more:

1.  After the shooting was over, did Cheney’s bird dog retrieve the old guy?

2.  If you’re going to get shot in a hunting accident, you definitely want it to be on a trip with the VP.  You just *know* Cheney has a medical team and an ambulance on call whereever he goes.

3.  Did they get the quail?

All humor aside, there’s two things in this story that ring out to me: #1 the victim was wearing blaze orange and #2 the victim is a human being and therefore not above 6′ tall or so.

Yes I did, Dunfly, and they are actually hosted here on the Itinerant Angler, although I don’t link to them anywhere since I wrote them for Flyfishing Today.

There is not a direct link from a web site.  I’ve posted a link in the forum on paddle-fishing.com several times and have told people about it.  It’s a great site for beginners.  I particularly like the stick men.

Paddle-fishing.com is a local kayak fishing site that is pretty active.  They even set up a separate forum for fly fishing.

AP is reporting that Frank Whittington (the guy Cheney shot) has suffered a mild heart attack due to birdshot lodged in his heart.  He has been returned to ICU and is expected to remain hospitalized for at least a week more.

All previous levity aside, this is looking like it might be a lot more serious than what we initially understood.

Our thoughts and prayers need to be with this guy.
