Scientists have been tracking the introduction of Lake Trout into Yellowstone lake using strontium and calcium levels in the otoliths or stones found in the trout’s “ear”.
What I found interesting is that both lakes (Lewis and Yellowstone) have boat ramps. I’m thinking it would be easy to castnet fingerlings and put them in the livewell, and then head over to Lake Yellowstone where they are dumped. I don’t know why anyone would want to go to the trouble … but who knows?

I have been told some has moved lake trout into the Watagua tailwater. TVA and TWRA are very mad and working to remove them as fast as possible.

When I lived out in Jackson, from 2000-2004, most of the people out there speculated that at some point the park, before they knew it would be bad, actually may have introduced this fish to the lake about 40-50 years ago.

Well, it sounds like the new scientific analysis of the otoliths disproves that theory pretty strongly.
