End of July beginning of August 2007 heading to Jackson Hole Wyoming area. Never been there before I am starting to plan the trip now looking into packages to fish the Snake and parts of yellowstone. Anyone been there and any tips or advice will be very helpful.

What sections of the snake are you wanting to fish?

I am taking a companion and she will be my wife of three months by then. She also fishes just as much as me. Anyway it will be our first time there so were not sure exactly what we will be doing yet that is why we started planning now. Probably two to three days of floating and maybe an overnight horseback trip.

The Jackson Hole area is more or less in Grand Teton National Park.

Thanks Zach I called them already they are sending me some information in the mail. I saw that exact photo in your recent work section and called them because of it.

I spent the last 5 years in Driggs (across the pass) from Jackson and I would second the recomendation for Westbank Anglers.

Zach the above pic is one of my favorite of all your work. You captured the magic of fishing in that shot.

    Hey Pancho,

Keep in mind that there’s lots of DIY fishing in the area, as well. Flat Creek runs through the Elk Preserve and offers giant, wary cutthroats. The lower section, south of town is easier fishing. The Gros Ventre can be good, as well, and there’s plenty of access. If you want to float the South Fork in Idaho (right over the mountains) and score points with the new wife, you might wanna hire a female guide from Reel Women in Victor, ID. My wife loved the experience of fishing with a super-competent woman.

As for Yellowstone, the water in the southwestern part of the Park will be getting warm by August. If you don’t mind the drive, head for the northeast corner (Lamar, Soda Butte, Slough Creek). About the same amount of driving in the other direction will get you to the upper Green.

Eat breakfast at Bubba’s BBQ, next to the Orvis shop in town, and go have a fancy game dinner at the Gun Barrel.

    Have fun.

Did you ever run into a guy named Rick Williams?

Rick Williams does not sound familiar but Driggs is a small town so if he skied or fished much I am sure we crossed paths

    “Dumb Cutties”?????
I would just call them opportunistic on the Snake….I guess Brandon didn’t give up the good spots with the “smart” cutties…..I know he knows where they are!
