MemberOh, I’d be interested, but a lil’ bird told me that Santa decided it’s a Dyna-king Christmas. Probably need to hold off on the big purchases for a bit. Thanks for thinking of me tho.

MemberFor Michael, for the A3 being a revamped A2 with a new paint job. Nothing could be further from the truth and I would suggest doing more research before posting.
Do a little more research before posting??? Let’s see I fished a fair number of the rods from that line a couple of months ago with different lines and sink tips, and in different situations. I even fished the two-handers and switch. I talked in depth to the rep about them, not to mention some of Scott’s Pro Staff about the rod line. We were all in agreement that it was an A2 that had been done over. I never said that it was a bad rod. The action, feel and weight are almost identical. I fished the A2 1308/3 right after the A3 1308/4 and it felt that I had the same rod in my hand for the most part. The A2 and now the A3 are the best rods on the market for thier price range, no doubt about it.

working in the fly fishing industry for 14 years, we can come up with plenty of reasons to complain about every company that makes road or reels.Dec 4, 2008 at 8:59 pm #31609regan c. kenyon jr.

And as far as simms goes, we have not had any problem recently with them as far as getting product, so that is kind of confusing, but who knows.
In response to your quote – the fly shop where I work has had lot’s of trouble getting product in a timely fashion. How about this…I need two pair of size 14 Rivershed / studded aquastealth asap.
I know that they are re-tooling the sole, however I’ve been on the floor pushing the aquastealth for months. I’ve finally got my customer base ready to spend 189 bucks on a pair of boots that include the benefits of aquastealth. What to do?Dec 7, 2008 at 11:33 pm #31611rich miller
MemberThanks for the input, all.
I’m the guy who started all this when I was perplexed with my personal experience wanting to try out one of those new Scott sticks (the S4) and asked for some feed back. I had no idea there would be so much interest.
James, I really appreciate your weighing in on the matter. I value hearing your perspective which shows genuine interest in your customers. I understand the customer issues that supply chain/production challenges can produce. My day job is to consult with companies on such matters and manage projects to implement software and associated business process improvements. If it was easy, everybody would have world class customer service AND world class products. But it is not easy and you’ve earned a chance for a portion of my fly fishing wallet. I’ll contact you about how to get my hands on an S4 to give it a try.
Thanks,

MemberI manage a shop in Canada (carrying Scott) and last year was definately challenging for Scott and I hope they are through it, but there are three ways of dealing with it as a consumer.
1) don’t buy a Scott rod for fear that they will not be here IF something goes wrong with your rod.
2) purchase your rod because it is a great rod, and on the assumption that they will prosper for years.
3) purchase your rod on the assumption that you will never get a chance to own one again!
Our shop made adjustments to work with the issues at Scott last year and we are in a better position regardless of what they do. But regardless of the past and future “I aint giving up my G2 any time soon!”
Like was said earlier, these company’s change models every 5 years or so. Didn’t we scream when Sage ended LL, then SP.
Until G2! Get one before it gets away! I don’t miss those others.Dec 10, 2008 at 1:37 pm #31615
John BennettMemberWell said Brian and welcome to IA.
You may not give up your G2, but I for one will be more than happy to take it off your a hands for a spell anytime we’re dipping our toes in the water 😉

MemberHey John, just followed a link here and there you are!
Thanks for the welcome.
I am just figuring my way around this site. Have not seen photos yet but I will take a peek. Feel free to PM any suggestions. I’d like to take a look at some nice photography.
You can borrow my G2 any time John and I’ll take your picture for a change! With a 24″ Brown on the business end. Next summer – Cahills! 😀 -
