Mark SchaferMemberWelcome JT great pictures.
Mark SchaferMemberI’m with Mike on the Nautilus. I’ve never had a problem with any Ross reel I’ve sold and I still fish a BG 4 and a Momentum 4,but Ross’s business philosophies are another story all together. Bauer makes some great reels and is trualy a family shop, I had a questions for them last week and when I called Mrs Bauer answered the phone. Some others that you might consider Hatch and Loop both make great stuff.
if your looking for great information check out this site

Mark SchaferMemberThe site doesn’t look as polished as S&C but borrows from the same mold. I have bought from S&C and sold through geartrade and both worked out fine for me.
Mark SchaferMemberWelcome Zach,

Mark SchaferMemberCameron.. it’s to bad they don’t have a similar program for shoes. Tyler..the pictures on your Blog are great, that straight away Pheasant shot looks familiar.

Cameron, was that two bladed paddle for you or the wife.
Mark SchaferMemberAll right guys I’m going to make one shameless pitch here. If your looking for a place that carries materials and tools from all major suppliers and a few odd balls, keeps track of your previous orders to make reorders easier and offers custom fly kits and tying instructions(this is cool ask about the details). Plus we have monthly specials, volume discounts and rewards points.
Contact me and I’ll give you all the details.

Mark SchaferMemberI bet you could lay a wire in the epoxy of the rod, running the length of the whole rod, and then connect that to a AA battery concealed in the reel seat.
ZachInstead of electric resistance heat how about a two part spray system, think about the heat created by two part epoxy’s, and exothermic chemicals already exist or even something similar to chemical hand warmers could work. I would take a chance on a $10 product( I’ve bought enough ice off pastes) that I could use on a current stick before I would buy a whole new rod and designers could also bring out rods that better utilized such products.

Yes, alcohol was involved when I came up with this idea last night
Mark SchaferMemberI’d like to see waders with some mid sized external pockets located around both the hips and thighs..Similiar in idea, function to cargo pants.
There is a Swedish company I recall that had mesh zippered pockets on their waders.

Mark SchaferMemberAs KB say’s, small shops may head into extinction in the next few years but if you look at a lot of these shops they are not typical retail locations my shop is located in a family owned Barbershop that my dad started over 35 years ago I know of another shop that is located in a small town pharmacy and yet another large materials dealer who’s very extensive materials operation is located in his house locations like this have an advantage of having little or no fixed overhead expences. Many Fly Shop owners are drawn into the business because a hobby got out of hand or because of a local niche that needed to be filled. To the credit of much of the fly fishing industry they will take a chance on a small time operation as long as you can meet some basic requirements and show some growth over time.
