    Eric,
I don’t have any suggestions for you on a specific pack but this site has some great deals. I have bought to packs from them, but you have to keep watching for what you want.

I really like the look of the new Sage waterproof pack, though I haven’t seen one in the flesh yet.

    The rod holder is cool.

I hope the shop here gets one soon..

I’ve been using a north face bag since March and have been quite pleased. It has plenty of bells and whistles (such as a fold out pad for sitting on rocks).

I do not recall the model name but I’ve posted it here before.

Check out REI’s Venturi pack. The vented back and frame are a life saver! No more sweaty back in warm summer days, and with the built in frame, you can comfortably carry a good load the entire day of fishing without taking it off. There are days that I don’t even notice I am carrying a pack. Hydration compatible, CF Flybox fits perfectly on the waist pouch.

    Eric,

I picked up an Osprey Talon 11 this summer for longer day hikes into the Yellowstone backcountry.  So far I am very pleased with it, as it handles 2 rod cases, several reels, some food, and a change of clothes very nicely.  I haven’t carried on an airplane yet, but it would certainly fit in the overhead even when fully packed. They retail at about $90
