MemberVery nice report, and your little bow loked as though he was trying to sit up for the picture.
I have never been out west, but viewing your pictures sure makes me want to go.keith b
MemberMaybe I have been looking at this wrong, but it seems to me that the big holstered pliers I see in catalogs are more for salt water fishing and bigger fresh water fishing.

MemberI second the Ott Light and cannot believe I ever tied without it on my desk.

MemberI wonder why those good ole boys from Esataboga Alabama would let their patent run out? Seems like they had a good thing going?
Is it possible that they made money from other companies wanting to get into this line of products?keith b
MemberI have been wearing Oakley radars with Amber polarized lenses for the last few years until this summer when I bought a pair of the Costa 580 in Copper, and they are awsome to say the least! I have heard, and I think it was from Zach, that the Costas now come in 580 polycarbonate.

MemberI have a feeling what Chris may have been saying is that in the long run the more exspensive rod may last a bit longer or fight that unxpected big fish a little better without breaking, and you may be able to get that extra foot or ten out of the more exspensive rod which allows you to cover more water, in the long run, which should put you in front of a few more fish.

MemberHey Chris, and welcome to this board!

MemberWhen approaching a stream, do so quietly as not to disturb the fish or other anglers.
Here is what came to mind while reading this.
Imagine being in a fine (5 star) restaurant having a nice candle lit dinner and some loud drunk people come crashing through the door.

MemberI just picked my jaw off my desk so I could type.

MemberThe jaws look fine. It is the adjustment screw from my renzetti traveler. I had a size four in it and finished tying and removed it. I was gathering some stuff to tie a size ten fly and heard a pop. My dog and I both looked at the vise, but I could not see anything wrong. When I went to adjust the jaws it fell out in my fingers. I was not happy to say the least. I have heard they will replace it if I call them.

MemberBob, forgive my ignorance, but what do the additional guides do for the casting performance?
Keithkeith b
MemberNeal,
I guess the biggest reason I used that is because I was almost out of the regular stuff :-[
I am adding some pics, but please let’s remember that I took these on the spur of the moment for my documentation only, not for showing as a prized tie or pic.
If this rain clears out I will be glad to meet you on the hooch and watch this bad arse call some fish.
It is a bit fat in the water, or bulky. I will tie one up with some olive barred zonker and see how that works.
I guess this not bad for a five minute tie.
The weed guard is large silver Ultra Wire, and I actually placed the zonker strip through it to keep it from fouling once I threw it a few times. I really liked the action, but it needs refining at the vise.

MemberNeal,
After looking at your snake fly, you posted on the other site (and above), I took available materials and made a little (6 inch) black snake.
I used some cross cut zonker and ran the hook through it so it was about half way up the shank, then I made a collar with a small piece of the same color zonker, and then took two small pieces of black foam in the shape of a snake head (ovalish) and placed one on the top of the hook and one on the bottom, tied them in and put 5 minute epoxy between them.keith b
MemberThanks Neal.

MemberI could not find these with the search feature, but after some clicking I found them.
I just found a great use for these worms, and it should make my shoalie fishing a lot more fun with the fly rod! 😉Neal, or anyone that has used them, what kind of action do you get in the water with these? I am thinking about one without the foam tail for more snake like action.

MemberSaw this the other day, but it does not have a shot of a streamer in its mouth.
