I caught this one a couple of years ago on the Hooch DH, any comments on possible cause?

congratulations on your work, how does one get into this line of work?
I mean flying to paradise and fishing and then writing a little article about it? 😉

I learned a lot from that first guiding experience, trust me.

The first time I went to the Keys for bone and tarpon I told the guy I was a trout fisherman and he smurked.  Later in the day, as I was casting like someone that had never cast anything heavier than a 5wt (i hadnt), I was fighting a 12 wt and he got a call and I heard him say, oh you are a trout fisherman, I have a trout fisherman on the boat right now and he laughed.

How about this one, You see that flow coming out of the creek mouth there and the fish action in the eddy?  Well we are going to go down to this bouy and fish because I have seen people catch fish there.  

Seriously I was told that, and what it boiled down to was this,  Guide’s thinking, “That flow is really good but I am a lazy piece and would rather stroke my pony tail than try to keep the boat where the fish are, and I am glad these guys arent pushy, this is really easy money I am making today, I wonder if I have any beer in the cooler, we have about an hour left so I should give them a minute or two and then start heading back at about no wake speed to make them feel good about my time keeping”

OK my own opinion;
It seems that Fly fishing mags reach for the lowest member of the FF community, the newbies if you will.

I am about to go back and read the articles after I post this, but I have had 5 1/2 salt guides this year.  I think I was burned a couple of times, or was it three.  I wish I had something like your articles before I headed out for my trips.  I have had some that have worked their tails off for me and then I have had a few that have looked to me for advice, and did not work for me but milked my money.  I say a half because I told one guy were cutting it short after we had kayaked into a tropical storm and when I looked around he had one of his 3 rods in the water at all times.
Anyway thank you for the articles I am about to read.

Thank you for those informative articles! I wish I could copy them and email them to a couple of a holes I have booked.  
I had one guy in SC make me pay him before I got on the boat, and I was pretty sure at that point my day was going to be crap and it was.

I think she is a great looking puppy, and I have heard about the half poodle breeds getting popular because poodles do not shed.

I like the name Ozzie for her, since the breed originates in Aussie land.

I am not the most organized guy in the world but here is what I do, since my desk for tying is also the office/computer desk.

I first bought a little plastic thing from Home Depot, the 12 drawer thing for nuts and bolts, and I put hooks, beads, lead eyes, extra bobbins, glue, etc  in this.
I recently bought a plastic rolling 5 drawer thing from an office supply store, and I have my stuff separated like, chenille, and maribou in one drawer, fur in one, feathers in one, etc.
That stays under the desk out of the way.
I bought a thread holder from the sewing shop, got strange looks from the ladies when I bought that.  It sits on the desk with the vise.  
It is pretty organized for a novice tier that does not tie often.

One day I hope to have a room for my fishing stuff ::)

I revcently read an article, sorry I cannot remember the mag, and it was all about Carp and how they asre on the rise as a game fish and why they have gotten a bad rap as a trash fish.
