The Itinerant AnglerThere is an architectural philosophy simply stated as “form follows function”. Tie this in with evolutionary theory, and the end result would be very similar products for the same function. All cars have a motor and 4 wheels, all mousetraps look the same, all wading jackets are dull colors with lots of pockets.
I think Dave’s point is well taken. The price of some of the “fly fishing fashions” is way out of wack considering they are designed to wear out in the rough and to get fish slime all over them.
This is a good point too.

MemberI apologize if i came off a little brash in my first post.
however, if we are so concerned with stealth, why don’t they all drop the “orange” trend and go straight to all camo??
I hope this plaid thing doesn’t stick.
The tanny mctan thing is pretty funny and very true!

Bob RigginsMemberEnjoyable read for sure. I have never worn a jacket while wading and am not sure I will. I guess I dont know enough to wear one.
On a side note, the fashion color topic, I had a very nice columbia flats shirts I purchased knowing I was heading to the Keys and during the trip the guide, explitives deleted, told me I was an idiot for wearing a salmon color to fish in and what did I think the fish would see when they looked up? He said a blue shirt would be better than scaring the, you know what, out of the fish wearing that orange/slamon color.
It must matter if a guide yelled at me and told me it is so, right :'( ::)How much did you discount the tip? ::)

Because some of us don’t want to get shot out on the drink.

MemberSomeone mentioned price, Loop’s gear is cheaper here in Australia than say Simms as an example, and when your showing some one how to cast or fish, that favourite, faded, thread bare lucky shirt isn’t really a good look 😉
Go the check 😀 Orange has been done to death ::)

MemberZach,
You are probably correct about the fishing in less than favorable weather conditions, and I have been out when the weather has been pretty nasty.Oct 29, 2008 at 11:47 am #30572Rob Snowhite

The Itinerant AnglerNu2Trout, would you be willing to share with us exactly what you do have in your vest?
Oct 29, 2008 at 9:18 pm #30580
David AndersonMemberLugging around cameras does put a dent in the amount of tackle you can carry.
I’m down to the very minimum myself and on a small stream trip one very small flybox, clipper, knife, gink, tippet and a spare leader is about it.
Vests are cool, but not much fun in the heat with a camera pack over them.
