    Neal,
After looking at your snake fly, you posted on the other site (and above), I took available materials and made a little (6 inch) black snake.
I used some cross cut zonker and ran the hook through it so it was about half way up the shank, then I made a collar with a small piece of the same color zonker, and then took two small pieces of black foam in the shape of a snake head (ovalish) and placed one on the top of the hook and one on the bottom, tied them in and put 5 minute epoxy between them.

out of curiosity – why did you use crosscut rabbit on the tail section?  I generally use that only for palmer wrapping a body to create bulk and movement.  Tails are usually a standard zonker.  I would love to see a picture (or better yet fish it with you ;))

    Neal,
I guess the biggest reason I used that is because I was almost out of the regular stuff :-[
I am adding some pics, but please let’s remember that I took these on the spur of the moment for my documentation only, not for showing as a prized tie or pic.
If this rain clears out I will be glad to meet you on the hooch and watch this bad arse call some fish.
It is a bit fat in the water, or bulky.  I will tie one up with some olive barred zonker and see how that works.
I guess this not bad for a five minute tie.
The weed guard is large silver Ultra Wire, and I actually placed the zonker strip through it to keep it from fouling once I threw it a few times. I really liked the action, but it needs refining at the vise.

That is looking closer to a diver pattern.

Fished my pattern in the tidal basin in dc today. The plan was for some big bass and a snakehead. I had one small largemouth nip at the fly and a few tugs from something just as small that I could not see through the off color water. I was hoping to get something nice on this beautiful fall day but no luck.
