Joel ThompsonMemberJay I am amazed at how much the Crooked Still singer sounds like Alison Krause. Definitely a voice from heaven!

Joel ThompsonMemberVery glad to see you are on the move Bob! Loved seeing the I.A. tee shirt in the picture with you coming OUT of the hospital instead of going in!
I hope you continue with a rapid recovery!
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberI sure would have enjoyed seeing more pictures of you and PoudreRiver “shredding” the slopes! ๐
Nice post Cam. It looked like a really good time! I really liked the copper stripe on that first rainbow. Very pretty!
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberWelcome Jaison! What part of the world will you be reporting to us from?
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberI don’t know any guide in the southern part of the state but my wife and I fished a couple of place down there last year that were pretty fun. We fished the Fremont River and Mammoth Creek. Caught a bunch of fish but nothing huge. Lots of fun though and easy to do yourself. I have one more piece of advice. Bring beer with you!!! It is very hard just finding a place that sells beer in Southern Utah. I usually fill a couple of growlers before I even leave Montana! ๐

Joel ThompsonMemberThanks for the heads up on the Yonder Mountain cd JT. I will have to pick that one up! I listen too a lot of Sam Bush, Alison Krause (and the solo stuff her band does), Blue Highway, and some Nickle Creek. I have Nickle Creek three times in concert and would recommend it to anyone!

Joel ThompsonMemberGreat pictures Aaron! Welcome to the board! I can tell right now you will be a very good addition.

Joel ThompsonMemberI don’t think this is a political issue at all Patrick. This is an enviromental issue that we should all be aware of. Since this spill I have tried not to buy exxon gas. If this happened nationally and we all stated our reason as the lack of clean up from the Valdez spill then maybe more would happen.
Patrick how come there has not been more of a clean up? Is anything beening done in the courts to change this situation?

Joel ThompsonMemberWelcome Gene and Christine! Nice to have you both on the board! Christine I think you are the only “fly chick” that I know of on the board. I look forward to seeing a “chicks” perspective on some of our topics around here.

Joel ThompsonMemberVery glad to hear you are doing better Bob! Keep heading in that direction! I certainly don’t mind that this post has nothing to do with fishing. You are a friend to fly fishing and I think the most important thing is your health and this website can make you feel good when you need it most. I will keep the prayers coming and by all means keep us posted on your recovery.

Joel ThompsonMemberNice shots Mike. I am a little confused though. John you called that owl a Long Eared Owl and I thought for sure it was a great horned owl. I can’t say I have ever heard of a Long Eared Owl. Anyhow let’s pretend it is a Great Horned Owl so I can tell you a little story. ๐
Great Horned Owls are very territorial espeacially when it comes to their nests. Well about two or three weeks ago this young guy in Northern Montana tried to get closer to one to get a picture of it and the thing kicked the livin’ crap out of the guy. Ended up putting him in the hospital! That is the thing about a lot of these raptors that we all need to remember is that they may look all cute and fuzzy but they are a wild bird and they will go to great lengths to protect what is theirs. My wife and I have both been attacked by a Goshawk up by our home. Talk about an adrenaline rush that you don’t want to repeat!
Anyhow, that is just a little bird story since I don’t seem to have any fish ones these days.

Joel ThompsonMemberDamn Paul! That king has some fangs on it! Great post and I know what you are goin through. Hard to get a line in the water this time of year in Montana unless you want to catch an ice berg! It’s all good though because the snow pack is looking good! I can put up with a couple more months of winter if it means good fishing all summer long!
Nice pics as well Mike!

Joel ThompsonMemberDunfly (AKA Bob
Joel ThompsonMembercount me in for one.

Joel ThompsonMemberJohn those photos are superb! Your picture look so alive to me that I feel as if the bird you are shooting is right in the room with me. Very cool! You definitely have a gift!
Great looking pots Patrick. I like the glaze color you chose for them.
Alan where is that second picture from? I feel like I’ve been there before….
Scott I liked what you did with your “throw away” shots. Did you have duck for dinner that night?
Great stuff everyone keep it coming!
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberThank you for posting the pictures Philip! If anyone has a problem with this post they are not into fly fishing! ๐
Hey since you are two years behind can I buy one of your old rods? PM me if you think you can part with one.
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberNice article Gregg. Thanks for sharing!
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberDave just try to keep in mind how good all of that snow and cold is going to be for our rivers this summer. For the first time in YEARS most of the areas in the state are at normal or above normal snow pack for the year so far. If we can keep that up for a couple more months than this summer should be as good as it gets!
There is always ice fishing Dave ::)………………..
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberThat is a beautiful looking rod Philip! I would love to see more pictures of your bamboo work if you have any. Bamboo is something I have never fished but would love to give it a try someday.
Joel
Joel ThompsonMemberGreat pictures Philip! What kind of rod is that in the last picture? Because from what I see of it it is damn sexy!
