Holy shit. That is all I can say. I’ve caught plenty of cats on fly, but never a big one. I’ve often schemed out plans to catch the big ones. Very nice.

Several internet fishing communities I frequent have bitched their way through this issue in the most contentious manner.

Until 1998 or so, there was a local towtrucker/grading business around here that still carried a shotgun on a rack in the back of at least one of their towtrucks. I also haven’t seen this for a while.

I used to ride my bike 4.5 miles to work at least 50% of the time. Now, childcare and transport of child necessitate a lot of driving. But a 22-mile bike commute is pretty impressive—damn.
In my fishing life, the price of gas has forced me to continue a trend to fish closer to home, which means less trout fishing. My good trout fishing is over 200 miles, round trip. I’ve been fishing other species and liking it.
Another change: we have an SUV, but I’ve been choosing to drive my old Camry fishing instead. I have been taking it into some rough 4X4 type areas.

Let’s see, a wedding to attend on Saturday, assorted guests staying at the house until Sunday, work on Monday: my weekend will not include fishing.
