MemberOh. I just remembered this and I had to put it in here.
So I’m out in the middle of the pond in my boat, and this lady on the edge of the pond yells over “what are you looking for?”
And I yell back, “A couple of bright orange goldfish – have you seen them?”
And she replies, “Did you lose them?”
Zach
I saw about a 6 lb, bright orange “goldfish” mixed in with the spawning carp on a big river this spring.

MemberThe time is perfect and the location is great for access to southern App. trout water.

MemberActually reminds me of the Chattooga River boating issue going on in north Georgia right now. Our issue has nothing to do with individual property rights, but the rhetoric (from both sides) sounds fairly similar. And yes, sometimes it is very amusing. Enraging, but amusing.

MemberI’ve never caught sturgeon, but I’ve seen them a few times up close.
As for the The Nature Conservancy, I’m glad to see it endorsed.

MemberWhat a beautiful snake. Red rats are nearly always easy going. Also, they are nearly always called “copperhead” and killed–so kudos to you for not taking a shovel to it. I usually grab snakes and I usually get musked. Pretty rare to find a docile AND non-stinky snake. Thanks for the nice shots.

MemberRun seems pretty good east of Atlanta in one of the 2 rivers I’ve tried. The other river has yet to produce a single white, but has been good for crappie and packed up with spawning carp. Last year I had a tough time getting whites and only saw a few. I heard lots of anglers last year saying the run was poor. Also, this is the lowest the rivers around here have been during these months for the last 4-5 years, which makes the fish pretty easy to find. I have not figured out these local white runs yet, but I know for sure there is variation among years as far as timing and angler success. Temp 2 weeks ago was 58 F.
However, while looking for whites/crappie I did manage my first, ever, carp on a fly when he sucked up a little clouser-like thing. Totally unexpected, on a 3 wt.

Memberspend quite a bit of time on Cumberland Island, and there is a black panther or two at least on the island. I have had two sightings on the main road…and they disapear quickly…the whole experience was actually kind of eary.
