InactiveJust curious on this one. This is a dangerous question for me as I am sure I am at the bottom of the barrel and I might just double haul myself off a bridge after I see how much you all fish. With some guides and other “professionals” on here…suicide hotline better be ready.
For me…BK (before kids) I was 50-75. Now with them…20-35.

John BennettMemberNowhere near enough.
Last year fishing took a distant back seat to photography, as I spent the vast majority of my free time trying to learn the basics of wildlife photography, post processing, etc. So 1/2 day or longer outings we’re scarce. Couple that with life (work, family, kids, work, kids, the dog) and well it paints a bleak picture. Luckily I can walk out my back door and be on a cold water stream and be fishing for resident Browns and Brookies in minutes that also gets Migratory Chinooks/Browns/Steelhead and it helps.
All of which translates into very few full days fishing but plenty of short outtings.
During the summer I can get up with the sun, get an hour or two in and be home just as the kids are waking up. Sometimes when walking the dog in the evening I’ll carry my 4wt with me and make some cast to risers. But still nowhere near enough

InactiveYeah, I think you have to count the short 2-4 hour fishes.
I mean…lets say you go out your back door and hit the stripers as mentioned. A good night and maybe you land 6-8 fish. How can you not count that? Did you learn something in those 3 hours? Probably. Maybe something about the tide, or watching a bird work, or a new fly you tied or a stiffer leader.
I think they absolutely count.
The guy who replied to the poll who fishes less than 10 times are year would KILL to have that 3 hour fish, no?
By the Way…John Bennet…where do you live…cause thats where I want to be?

Eric WellerMemberI’m with Zach on this one, started a journal for the year and I’ll probably get almost 50 days this year.

John BennettMemberim thinking alot of fathers can relate to the grab what you can, when you can :). Eric I gave up golf 3 years ago. I just cant bring myself to commit to 5+hr rounds and abondoning my wife with the kids often. So something had to give.
Seafood I live on the north shore of Lake Ontario. I can be on the stream 1 minute after walking out back door. Good runs of steelhead in the Spring/Fall. Decent run of Chinooks and Browns Sept through October and year round resident browns, although not big lunkers. All just a short cast away. I am quite literally blessed in that I can get my fix, unwind and be home as

Joel ThompsonMemberI think I did 50 to 70 days last summer, but most of those were guiding. I like a lot of you bought a journal this year and am keeping better track. I am a couple of weeks behind on inputs in that now too but the days are still fresh in my head so hopefully I can catch it up in the next couple of evenings.
I also end up falling into the 2-4 hour range on a lot of days. I still consider that a day myself. Let’s face it fishing in the heat of the day is futile sometimes and your better off enjoying a nice cold beer! 🙂

MemberWhen I lived in Michigan I really got my licks in! My job had me traveling the state and I could plan calls on runs, hatches, ice and etc.
Now, living more in the south I probably get 100 days a year in.May 15, 2007 at 1:03 am #17241stephen prunier
MemberHello
I’m a newbie here. I joined back in Jan. 06 and I posted for the first time today. I give a new meening to “Being Slow” ::) Like most of you I find myself grabbing a few hours at a time more often than spending a full day. I’m often given a hard time by others do to my being slow to come around to fishing the salt for stripers. I live less than a mile from the Danvers River. Some of you may have heard about the little explosion we had here last November. It leveled a neighborhood. I have my own carpentry business and work alone so it dosen’t get to crazy, but at the end of most days i’m toast. Plus after I get home and shower, and the AC kicks in, it’s real tough to stop watching the Red Sox game to go out in 90 degree weather to fish 😛 So I save my fishing for saturday after 3 (I work 9-3 on sat) and sundays. But I do fish 12 months a year. Nothing better than standing in the river and seeing the looks on the faces of people driving by and seeing me removing ice from my rod tip 😎
