MemberThere ya go! that looks much more proportionate. I am using bunny fur cut from cross-cut strips for the tail and collar.
D.dusty montgomery
MemberGetting much better. But just a few little items: less tail, more collar, two or three less vinyl wraps, IMHO, but opinions do vary.

MemberVELCRO, little brother, velcro. Find some around the house. If not, I have plenty. Last month, I acquired more than 11,000 feet of velcro for a client; thus, I have some remnants.

MemberThe body of the fly still looks a bit paltry-try adding more dubbing, evenly. Also, I would add a bit more material to the collar. But the fly is definately looking better.

MemberBP doesn’t have orange dubbing? You may want to get one of the dispensers that has 12 colors, just make sure it is not dry fly dubbing. If you do not find the color you want in the dispenser, you could always blend colors. An excellent way to blend colors is a coffee bean grinder; I am sure your mom has one. If you swipe it, just tell her she sold it last weekend in the garage sell if she asks. Also, I bought about that same color last weekend at Orvis.

MemberI don’t know about that color combo, bro. I will have to defer that one to the more knowledgeable carp hunters. But, I have seen you catch Carp with worse-looking flies, no doubt.
D.Looking at it again, that brown dubbing almost negates the use of the vinyl rib as it melts right in.

MemberDude-I would buy that! No BS! I would like to have that one on my wall.

MemberCorey,
Would you mind too much telling me which lens you were using while taking these? BTW, awesome pics as usual.

MemberCorey,
That’s awesome man! I especially like the one of the Cutt smiling-classic.
Nicely done.

MemberNick-
Did you come up with a pattern yet?
D.dusty montgomery
MemberAnd just to confirm, this is a tent outing, as opposed to cabins. Just trying to get a mental gear list going.
Thanks,

MemberFor out-of-staters, where is the best place to fly into?

MemberCameron-
I am out that weekend
You’re killin’ me. I thought we were going to teach some people the finer arts of grilling.

MemberThanks Neal. I’ll return what I got and get some of these. You got 5 sizes: 1/0, 1, 2, 4, & 6?

MemberNeal,
in some of those pics the hook, near the eye, looks to have a 45 degree bend and in others it looks to have a 90 degree bend. Do you think it matters which hook is used? I bought some eagle claw jig hooks this weekend, and they all have 90 degree bends.

MemberKind-of hard to reprimand an animal for doing what it was bread for. However, I would have a bill for the feathers ready for the in-laws when they pick up their dog.

MemberI already have the EF 50mm f/1.4
John, how do you like this lens, and under what circumstance do you reach for it above others?
D.dusty montgomery
MemberJohn,
No, I cannot tell. I think I understand your point, but could a pro tell the difference, meaning perhaps I do not yet have that discerning eye? I had no idea the IS feature doubled the price of the lens. But that lens is far down the road for me. Every seems to agree on the 100 Macro and 17-40 L. As I already have the 18-55 kit, I am thinking the 100 Macro should come first. Thanks guys, all of this is very helpful to the neophyte not wanting to have buyers remorse after finding out one of these pertinent pieces of info.

MemberThanks for the info Neal! I have used Bear’s Den before; I’ll take a look next time I make an order.
