We are babysitting my in-laws Brittany. Our house is not bird dog proof. She got into some of my feathers yesterday. She likes starling and high quality metz grizzly capes. Thought ya’ll might get a chuckle.

Kind-of hard to reprimand an animal for doing what it was bread for. However, I would have a bill for the feathers ready for the in-laws when they pick up their dog.

My pointer got into my materials not too long ago.  Got into three of my capes.  Someone told me I needed to train her to ‘sort by size’.   ;D

Mae (the setter) has been known to point my tying desk after I’ve had materials open.

This reminds me – I need to repackage my home-prepared capes; they are leaking onto the folders (greasy).

Classic . . . Scott.  Although I get grumpy when my dog goes “shopping” in the feathers, I secretly chuckle because it somehow seems to be a natural act.  However, my little white dog once got in my green saltwater cape and we found her with a green face for a few days later.

I bet you have been tying a lot lately with the water conditions on your local waters being so out of whack?

Beautiful Brittany, btw.  I have never seen one that dark – most of the ones I have been around are more copper than liver.  Is it a particular breed?

Not that I know of Zach. See’s just a beautifully marked dog. It’s a shame she’s only a pet and is not worked.

This reminds me – I need to repackage my home-prepared capes; they are leaking onto the folders (greasy).  Salt will do wonders to prevent decay but it can’t dry a hide beyond a certain point.

If you can find some Borax Soap powder, Zach, it’ll dry anything out.

Funny stories. I like the idea of sorting by size. Neal, I’ve not been tying like I should. Been messing with the poppers.

Great looking dog Scott, although I’m sure that doesn’t ease too much of the pain.  My roommate’s dog got into our materials last summer.  He didn’t do too much damage, but it always hurts to lose capes.

Hopefully it won’t happen to you again,

    -Tim
