    BD,

This is a #7 rig for smallmouth, far downstream of the stocked trout water. Water from a foot at the bank to nine feet deep.

My house sits on the bank at 25.5 river miles,

I’ve been doing my reseaech and just noticed it was attached to a floater. The Express head is great for sink rate just to long a head fir the river width. I can cast from bank to bank in most places, put me in the middle of the river in my buds Towee and I need 10 to 15′ head

in reply to: Simms Online Sales Policy #52077

Simms and Scott Fly Rods are two of the only fly rod companies posting large growth and profits in the current economy.  Scott does it by knowing its customer base and staying very close to its core.

I’m stunned that Scott is posting strong profits . . . . pleasantly stunned I might add as I own several G2, S4, F2 and S4S’s and think
Scott makes great rods . . . . . but I’ve walked into several shops the past 24 months that no longer carry Scott because they “weren’t selling.”

I have same situation in “my” shop, they carry a few Scotts, go in ask about Scott XYZ model, will try to steer you to SAGE rack and tell you how great Sage is.

I’ve owned and fished lots Sage rods, still own one, but flyshop attitudes got me to looking at Scott plus cast a G2, haven’t looked back.

Where is everybody at, Scott could paint a fancy name on it and get twice as much.

Only cast the 9’0″ #6 for a day but it blew me away. I’d love to cast a

9’0″ #4, my bud would like to cast a 9’0″ #5 and would love feedback on the 8’0″ #3

in reply to: TFO BVK #51398

My Monday fishing bud went today without me, (my son was out of school and we went zip lining). He can’t break any other TFO rod, called me tonight, is sending his BVK #8 back for the 4th time, breaks on every trip,

in reply to: Ross LT reels #51147

AWESOME crew to do business with, I’ve purchased a few Nautilus reels from them, always throw in a new line with the reel, got a rod or two from them. Can’t say enough good about them.

They will treat you right, and very fast shipment, answers email questions very fast.

Won’t be able to make it. Will be on a 9 day trip with my FFF club, taking in Sowbug and fishing the White. We go to Sowbug and Conclave. Paid my deposit months ago.

My bud, Eric is still grinning like a possum.

    Simon,

Do you have a closed season ? All the photos I see are during nice weather, maybe a little frost in a couple of Tim’s photos.

Like to see some winter time photos of NZ, fishing or not.

in reply to: Vest or Chest Pack #50504

I’ve owned about every vest made, the Waterdance, holds to much and weights you down, might as well stay with the vest, I’m now using the Simms Dry Creek pack circa 2009, tried it for a while with the hip belt but have now gone to using the shoulder strap, when you want something pull it around, you have to do the same with the hip feature. Works for me.

in reply to: IA forum member catches ugliest fish in NZ #50217

We got ugly fish in Tennessee, wife caught this smallmouth on a float last Thursday where Mulberry Creek (the creek that runs through Lynchburg by Jack Daniels Distillery) enters the Elk River.

in reply to: I think im falling in love with Lamson #50435

I owned quite a few, great product. Only complaint was the drag knob from me, sold them and own a bucket full of Nautilus.

in reply to: New water on an old river, Yellowstone #49310

I’m sitting in Livingston, got my 9 year old out on a “boy trip” I had to come now due to 5th grade starts in two weeks. Jackson Hole gets 400″ snow on average, tram operator said 741″ this season. Wait till late Aug or Sept if you can. Firehole &I Gibbon are only fishable water we’ve seen. Heading to NE corner tomorrow. Will fish Trout Lake, fished Grebe Lake yesterday, got my first Graying. My 8th trip to Yellowstone, Sam’s 1st. He is already talking about our “boy trip” next year.
