Retiring my old vest and was wondering what everybody prefers.

I’ve owned about every vest made, the Waterdance, holds to much and weights you down, might as well stay with the vest, I’m now using the Simms Dry Creek pack circa 2009, tried it for a while with the hip belt but have now gone to using the shoulder strap, when you want something pull it around, you have to do the same with the hip feature. Works for me.

I’ve been using the Simms Headwaters chest pack for about a year and a half. It has worked well for me but I can see where people would really rather have a vest. I think either is great but the chest pack just seems to allow me to have everything I need right in one spot.

How slick are the rocks in the waters where you wade?
Chest packs are nice, but can make it a little hard to see the area just in front of your feet.

Honestly I prefer a lumbar pack over anything else.

I went with a fishpond marabou vest, It is more a minimalist vest than some others and I never could get used to my net stuck in the back of my waist pack.

Patagonia hip/chest pack. Either as a lumbar pack or slung over the shoulder like Indiana Jones’s satchel.
