    Hi-

There seem to be quite a few Scott fly rod fans on here and I was hoping one or two of you would be willing to comment on the A4 line-up.  Specifically I’ve been looking at the 8’6″ 5-weight as an all-around trout rod for small/medium rivers.  Also of interest to me is the 7’6″ 3-weight for smaller waters.

Anyway, I would love to know if anyone out there has one of these rods and what your opinion is on them.  I haven’t yet had a chance to cast one, so I’m wondering what the action of these rods is like?

    Thanks,
    Seth

    Hi Seth,

The A4 is a great rod at its price point.

I honestly think the A4 is a great rod at any price point.

Where is everybody at, Scott could paint a fancy name on it and get twice as much.

Only cast the 9’0″ #6 for a day but it blew me away. I’d love to cast a

9’0″ #4, my bud would like to cast a 9’0″ #5 and would love feedback on the 8’0″ #3

    About lightweight rods:
Almost all productions rods, especially the more affordable brands, on the market have horrible proportions. Just have a look at their light line weight (#2-4) rods. They all have HUGE grips with HUGE reel seats. The same grip & reel seats they use on their #5-6 rods. It looks like Paris Hilton: a lady with shoe size 10…

I went down to McClellan’s Fly Shop in Fayetteville Saturday and cast an A4. Ended up buying the 5 weight and can’t wait to get it broke in.
