    Zach,

I fished a SJW on the San Juan and didn’t catch a thing with it, or anywhere else I’ve tried it.

Another fly I fish faithfully and won’t give up on is a Double Bunny, never got a hit, lots of monster follows, I hope to change that soon.

    Lando,

Sure wish we got lots of snow in Tennessee. Keep the photos coming.

I’d like a copy of the list.

I dropped my flies off in the mail on the way back from the big city, (hospital better part of the last two days) when I left it was 2 each of two flies with a bonus fly thrown in. That is what I put in the mail, treat my package as you wish.

I’m fine, so well I expect to fish the better part of most days next week, go on the 4th and pick up our new Boykin pup and take Spey casting lessons on the 5th.

I am thinking only the Clouser line on this rod, I got a 9’0″ #8 rod I have a Clouser on for my “open” work, this rod will be for the tight stuff. Much like most people would use a shorter rod on a tight mountain stream. This rod will only be used on small “one angler” width warmwater streams with larger Smallmouth flies. If I want to use small stuff, I go to the tailwater for stockers ๐Ÿ˜‰

in reply to: TFO TICr X #23000

    Steve,

is the #6 a true six weight ?

in reply to: Most used/go to flies #22664

has alot to do with the rod I got in my hands and the type of water on my tailwater I’m on. But:

    Black Circus Peanut

    or

small Black (self invention) similar to a Birds Stonefly.

in reply to: Grouse Hunting #23250

Grouse are poison, I recommend you stay away. But if you don’t take my advise, 10 years ago, I visited my best bud in SW Virginia on a regular basis, 28 gauge Parker Repo, Llewellyn Setters, Elhew Pointers. Good exercise, lots of walking/exploring for very, very few birds.

I’d wear orange just to be safe.

I never found Grouse hard to kill, just hard to hit ;D

It’s only proper/sporting to shoot a game bird on the wing.

I had a Setterdog during the time frame I speak of that was as birdy as a dog can be, full of hunt, lock up and you could pick her up and move her, went

I’m leaning towards a Hefty myself, since I live on the river, I most of the time drive to and from the access points already in

in reply to: Reminder: Caution #22410

In Tennessee it use to be a concealed permit, the last few years it’s not, if you want to scare the “do gooders” I can wear it on my side like the wild west.

It was an eight hour class, class room and range instruction.

There was a lady that took it with us, wearing a 5.9 carat diamond, and you wouldn’t want to try and take her diamond. She is new to the shooting sport. I myself was handed a firearm at birth, before the doctor cleaned out my ears ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m not scared of nothing, BUT, with all the meth labs and such these days, plus my hearing is not getting better as I age

in reply to: TFO TICr X #22994

that’s what I’m after, this in one of the “larger” streams, it should be 2 to 3′ deep, good Small and Large Mouth water, bluegill and Rock Bass or “Black Perch or Redeye” as we call them.
