It’s a Mitsubishi.
They’re called Pajero here, and Shogun in England – and maybe Montero in the US ?The engine (can’t compete with the Dodge ;D) is a 3.2 ltr. 4 cyl. with 147 Kw’s and 441 Nm or torque.
(I think that’s around 200hp and 325 ft. pounds)
It’s early days but it’s supposed to get around 35mpg’s on the open road.This is my 4th diesel 4×4, though it’s been 4 years since the last one – I forgot how much noise proper off-road tires make.

I’ve only used laptops for many years now, and I love them.
For one thing you can bring them with you, and that makes location work much easier.
Another advantage is I can work anywhere in my house as well – or even out on the deck.
Sometimes I do emails and invoices while doing the school pick-up as well.One disadvantage is the color quality of the screens, but if properly calibrated they’re workable.
I use MAc 17’s and also have a 15.
In the past I’ve used the cheaper Macbooks as well, and they’re good for what they cost and generally lighter than the pro’s

I agree with Zach about articles as well as pictures, but would add that you team up with a good writer and just do photos as well.
As far as making a living goes though, photography is no easy road and if you want to eat I would suggest getting into other areas besides fishing.
The print media is going through a massive change at the moment and it might be a while before you could sit back and workout the best plan of attack.
Again, nice pix and that is the main game.

Some amazing stuff happening at that end of town.
But it is one thing to make the most amazing Video/still camera thingy ever and charge a fortune for it, it’s another to get people to buy it in a flat market.
Everyone now knows the early adopters get the problems and a very high price.
That said, I would trade anyone of your mothers for the 645 or 617’s when they come out.. 😀
I have a feeling it’s not going to be that long before a commercial photographer is going to need to be set-up for motion as well as stills.

The Scott G2 #4 is a sweet rod, very forgiving, but still has a bit of zing.
I think they’re a worth successor to the G’s.If you like the SLT, and are looking for something new, you should also have a cast of the ZXL’s, I have the 2 and the 8’6 #3 and both are brilliant.
The 8’6 #3 does nymphs easy, but I still use the shorter 2 a lot on tighter streams.www.dsaphoto.com

Will, I used to do a lot more tying and most of my flies are my own, but since the kid count started going up, the bench is a little under loved.
I started tying my own nymphs, so I could get them the exact weight I needed for my regular streams – all very small and fished with 2 & 3 weights.I find your insect shots very inspirational – they make me want to tie better flies..

John, all my thin mount Hoya’s have come apart and they scratch very easily, they’re junk.

The flower sot is good, there must be 10 stops between the highlights and the shadows under the leaves – well done.
I bet that warm tone will be great on a forested stream – I bet it would also work well on a flatter day, like a thin overcast.

While the net is a good way of showing off shots, it’s not always the best way to sell yourself or work to real clients – I say ‘real’ meaning people who value photography and are willing to pay what it’s worth.
I say this because from where I’m sitting, it appears that 1 in 3 people on the planet is a part time photographer that aspires to sell photos online and has a flashy website with 3 dozen shots. 😮
Most of those people only have a good automated DSLR and no talent, so if your shots are great you can stand out a bit, but it’s still a crowded place.
I think the poeple with real talent (Hi John & WIll amongst others here ;)) will need to work outside that square to get noticed and get hired.We use our website as an online portfolio and have been hired off of it alone, but it’s rare, more often it’s just part of the sales process, but the hard sell is still face to face or over the phone.
The BEST way I’ve found of selling myself and work is with a printed portfolio in a face to face meeting and the BEST way to get that meeting is to be published where people see your work.
The old catch 22..
So if I were new again, I would target a printed publication in the field of photography I was into and once published go after others on a face to face basis.
I would also look at the advertisers in those publications and target them as well – they tend to have more money than the magazine for photos.Zach, I know what you’re saying about kids and agree to a small degree, but everyone I work for with few exceptions have kids and having a couple photos of my own has been a great ice-breaker at meetings or during the pitching process.
I’ve also met some of my biggest clients through kids sport.

That is nice light – very smooth and flat, but in some you’re getting a lot of green bouncing back onto the flies..
You can fix that with bits of black something-or-other just out of frame – that way just the top light should hit the fly..
