It’s a buyer’s market. I found a dealer that had a new 2008 Dodge Ram standard cab work truck. He gave me $13,000 off plus trade-in. It already has a bed liner and tow package on it and a CD player with I-Pod hook-up so I can listen to podcasts on the road. Get’s slightly better gas mileage than my Dakota did.

This next week I plan to order a camper shell for it, and I’m trying to decide on how I will build a storage box in the bed this time. Any ideas from you how-to guys? I want something more compact (not as high) than last time and will probably make it nice with drawers using a pocket hole jig.

BTW, Leer and Unicover both have a “fisherman package” shell that looks good. Any of you have one of these? Recommendations?

I’ll post photos later this summer when I get it fixed up.

Nice truck Scott – I’m green with envy !

Here’s a couple of things I was looking at in custom made drawers for the back of a ute.
You probably wont get anything made here in Oz, but they might give you some ideas.

    Recommendations?

    Scott,

I’d highly recommend a Windoor-type side window for easy access. Also don’t forget the Rod racks.

Wish I was in Cotter, AR.

No. Don’t usually need one, Dave.

I have another baby that can do 4 wheel drive:

Ha Scott!  Nice truck, great deal, and good for America!! 🙂

Looks like you are already enjoying it.   I bet you can’t wait to get that new fish smell in it.

    Enjoy

Hey, Bill. I understand part of the Fenton, MO (St. Louis) plant where this truck was made will be closing under the restructuring of Chrysler. Guess they had too much truck inventory.

Fish smell and waders already on it :-).
