OK…picked up the new kayak on Friday afternoon and had it in the water the next morning for just about an hour and a half but it was enough to tell me that I am really going to enjoy having this option for fishing the pond and other waters as well.

Have I mentioned that I REALLY like my Honda Element? I flipped the seats up against the sides and slid the Ultimate in for the short trip down from the house to the pond.

I tried to keep it simple since I knew I only had an hour or so. Box of flies, a Heddon rod, and a trusty Martin reel.

The view from the seat of the kayak. This is a beautiful pond. The kayak felt really stable and I was standing up casting within the first five minutes. A very cool vantage point when fishing.

Ah…first fish from the new kayak…a scrappy bluegill that took a small popping bug.

This larger bluegill slurped up the popping bug as well. He was sitting at the base of a dock.

Back in the drink.

As always…I was running late to the house. I pulled a couple of the lilies from the pond in hopes to smooth things over with the wife. Didn’t really work but these look great in a big clear glass bowl of water in the kitchen.

I am REALLY impressed with the Native Ultimate. I can see why people are such fanatics about kayak angling and can’t wait to get out with my kayak again. Wish I didn’t have to be to work in the morning. Oh well…
