Do any of you all use netbooks (whatever brand – Asus, Samsung, Acer, etc.) for your photo processing and storage (with backup of course)?

I need to do a laptop upgrade but really all I would use it for would be 1) processing photos and 2) surfing the internet.  I’m thinking I would get one of these nice netbooks for around $500 and then spend some coin on a nice flatscreen monitor which I need anyway.

The Asus EEE is far to slow to do anything good with photo’s also the 20G max HDD capacity makes it not a real backup machine. The displays on youre camera are probabl better than on any netbook i think.

For lightweight surfing the web they work great 🙂

I’ve only used laptops for many years now, and I love them.

For one thing you can bring them with you, and that makes location work much easier.
Another advantage is I can work anywhere in my house as well – or even out on the deck.
Sometimes I do emails and invoices while doing the school pick-up as well.

One disadvantage is the color quality of the screens, but if properly calibrated they’re workable.

    I use MAc 17’s and also have a 15.

In the past I’ve used the cheaper Macbooks as well, and they’re good for what they cost and generally lighter than the pro’s

I think you will find the netbooks really underpowered.

Thanks guys – good to know.

Any suggestions for a moderately priced laptop to replace my T40 that’s slowly dying on me?
