MemberI’ve done something similar. Take two magnum bunny strips and a piece of 20 pound wire. Glue the wire in between the strips when you glue the strips together (this keeps the bunny strips rigid and keeps it from fouling). I tied mine about 8″ and fish it like a soft plastic (slugo). It’s heavy when wet but looks great. To tie it wacky just figure 8 it on the hook at the mid point.
You’ll need a shooting head style line to really cast it well.

MemberZach I would completely encase the board with two coats of resin (dry between coats) then install it into place.

MemberNice work guys!
I’ve also done some cheap boat building projects too. I’ll go ahead tell you that the OSB won’t last very long. I doubt you can seal it enough to keep moisture out. Also, when it gets wet it swells big time. Coating it in fiberglass resin might be the best way to prolong moisture penetration.
Honestly though, as hard as you guys are working and as good a job as you are doing I wouldn’t scrimp on the material. 1/2″ Pressure treated plywood would be there for a loooong time. I’ve got some pieces of ¾ that might be enough to do it. You could have it, but you’ll have to come get it.Mike Anderson
MemberThanks! The only thing hurt were my ears from the wife screaming while it was going over,, or maybe it was me doing all the screaming I don’t recall. ;D
I’ve got a Stihl Farm Boss chainsaw so I’m in good shape for the cleanup. Should be somewhat back to normal by next week I hope!

MemberI have a few questions on this topic as well.
What is the difference in CS3 or 4 and lightroom. Why would I need CS4 if light room is soo good?
Do most of you store your images on an external HD? I was keeping them on my C drive but was told it was slowing my PC down so I moved them to an external HD. I didn’t see any improvement to my PC’s speed. ???

MemberHere’s a shot from our driveway after it came through. This shot only shows a few of the mangled trees on the other side. This is the hill that I think protected our house.
My neighbor took this right before it crossed the road. Our place is inline with the white truck. I wonder if he knew what was behind him? That was about the time I went out to have a look (our power was out) and saw the sky full of swirling debris,,,, OHHH SHIT!

View out our back door after it passed.
Our driveway
My wife’s willow tree. This is the second time it has been knocked over. I was able to save it the first time but it was to far gone and too large to save this time.
The other Willow tree in our back yard, I love these trees but I’m having trouble finding a tornado resistant one.
This was a shed behind my garage. The floor is on top of the pile and one of the double doors was about 200’ away at the top of our drive.
My Garage. Last time the trees didn’t penetrate the roof but this time they did.
That’s a roof fan laying on the right of this image. Looks like it was run over by something.
A giant oak from our back yard.
The mother of all maples next door at my grandfather’s old home. I’ll miss this tree the most. The Ash that fell across the Maple root was two trees in one. It was also two of the biggest tress in the yard. It dropped one in a west direction and the other north. That shed was one my Grandfather built years ago. I was sad to see it fall. He spent alot of time working on

MemberThanks for the concern folks. We had one on the ground in front of our house but it lifted up as it passed over us and dropped back down in our back yard. It was scary as hell while it was on us and the silence that followed was the best sound ever. I was looking around my house at the 100+ year old oak ash and maple trees it blew over and we never heard any of them fall. One of them cut my neighbors metal building in half.

MemberMaybe they are just a company who is very aware of the many directions the market is heading. I’m blown away at Rio’s vast assortment of lines. Many of these are Lines that most fly fishermen will never use. Lines that when you do use them it’s evident they were researched and developed by someone who actually knew what the line needed to do.
Does everybody need a Rio carp line, no. If someone was wanting to get into it would this line help that person, maybe. I applaud them for trying to make the best line for the many different applications. Just Look at the success of the Clouser lines. Knowing Rio I’d bet it’s going to be pretty nice.

MemberNice to see someone get their hands dirty and fix something in this throw away society. I’d love to have seen the process. Do show us the finished look.

MemberThere is no perfect streamer rods there are only perfect combinations. For example my 6wt Xi2 with a 250 grain SA Streamer Express is as good at casting trout medium Streamers as anything out there. That same line on some other 6wt might suck. Also if you are wading the Streamer express or any sinking line will suck since the running line will always sink at your feet.
I don’t know your river but IMO if I was wading and trying to streamer fish Gallop style I’d fish something like a fast 6wt rod with a 200-250 grain Rio outbound floater or aMike Anderson
MemberI realize those shots had other issues, but sharpness and color look alright to you? This lens does pretty good most of the time but every now and then I get bad results like the musky shots. I think it’s my big fingers bumping the focus ring by accident….

MemberI never leave for the river without this in mine.

MemberI agree that there are some awesome P&S cameras these days, some with Leica glass. It was what they can’t do that pushed me over the edge to buy a DSLR. Zoom and lots of it.
Mike Anderson
MemberI used my Zeiss lens for the Musky shots and normally it shoots wonderful shots with great color and pretty sharp. However this lens has a sloppy focus ring that is to easy to bump while holding the lens and will skew the focus pretty badly. I’m certain this is what happened because when I use my G lens the cameras focus is always dead on. This lens has done this to me before so I just need to realize it and keep my big ole fingers away from the focus ring. It will take nice shots so I’m having a hard time replacing it with a 24-70 2.8 G.
Zeiss images, what do you guys think, is it a keeper?

MemberAnother great thread indeed!
I bought these Neal.

MemberWill I’ve put off buying a diffuser too long. Ordered one today. Thanks!

MemberThanks for the great advice John. Pics 2 and 3 are exactly what I’m looking to capture and interest me the most of these shots. Mind sharing the lens you used for those? The clarity and color is amazing.

MemberYea it was a daytrip, we were going to go to one place but had to divert to this place.
Last year I drove several hours to fly fish to these guys at least 8 times and got zeroed all 8 times but I always had good luck with gear when I took it. I’m pretty sure now that this is going to be alot like chasing big Striper on the fly. It needs to be rainy or stained rising water or right at dusk. Stack the odds and it’ll happen. I’ve pretty much pledged to fish this location until I figure it out. Trout and Striper have always pulled me away from it at the prime times. This year I’m going to try to stay on it. Notice I said try…

MemberIt is a hell of a river,,, that has kicked my butt many times.
