Zach look at the pics on my site.

All the effects are small. I may have lost 1 or 2 mph and on plane hasn’t changed. I had to put teflon slides on the trailer and now it loads and unloads better then ever. I’m 110% satisfied. I really want to do the inside now…. They said they can spray it lighter on the inside to save weight.

Is that the best you can do? ;D

Damn fine job, those brought a big smile to my face!

Lieca and Minolta worked together for a few years and there are some older lenses out there from that era that work and are even stabilized, on my Sony. Sweet lenses for sure.

If I were in the market for a high end P&S I’d buy the Panasonic Lumix hands down.

“I never caught jack on the fly rod when fishing from the bank.”

Now you know why 🙂 When the water gets up and early spring everything that spawns heads up river as far as they can go. This is the stopping point for the east fork.

I have the local TWRA officers cell number but it isn’t any good if the battery on my phone is dead..

Neal I bit the bullet and laid the cash out for a 70-400 F4-5.6 Sony G lens. It isn’t super fast but it more then makes up for it in all the other areas. It’s one of those lenses that makes images that look better then they did in real life somehow. It hurt like hell to shell out more for a lens then I paid for the body but I haven’t had any second thoughts at all since I first attached it to my camera. Its an amazing piece of glass and testament that Sony is on the right path and capable of producing glass that rivals any out there.

Right now all I carry is my Zeiss 16-80, Sony 70-400, a 100 macro, and that covers most everything I could ever want to cover. I do plan to add either a 200 2.8 or 70-200 2.8 later for sporting events and such.

I had some shots of the most awesome golden overcast sunset I’ve ever seen, complete with geese, my Lab and some fly fishermen

I actually agree with alot of what Alan says. There is a large percentage of fly fishermen who try to influence the sport with stupid rules, that aren’t fishermen at all. Some of them should trade that fly rod in for a butterfly catcher. However, I wouldn’t start an argument about it on a public forum though.

BTW Allan let’s see that Nub Worm pattern.

Keep em coming Andrew, I look foward to these posts! The new work looks great BTW.

Neal I’ve been told that the saying around here is, if you go out with Mike, tell your wife you’ll see her in the morning or Monday depending on where we fish. ;D. I like to fish from whenever till dark and then some. That usually goes for client trips too. If they’re casters and up to the challenge I’ll run the boat till they say uncle. When Striper season gets hot and the water is right, nighttime is magic time.

The night the pics were taken the fish were blowing up all around us as the sun set. It isn’t as dark as it looks though I just haven’t taken the time to explore flash photography enough to get perfect exposures. kinda hard to play with the camera when fish are blowing up all over the place.

Steve those green mirrors have been with me for a pretty long while. Best pair of Costas I’ve ever owned and I’ve gottten pretty attached to them. They are in rough shape but I still refuse to get new ones.

Lovely.  Pound for pound, I’d argue that hybrids are the hardest pulling freshwater fish.

    G

I agree, if you’ve never caught one just imagine getting into a bed of seven to ten pound Bluegill. I love the take on the fly most of all. They hit like a freight train and once they feel the steel you better know how to feed the line back out smoothly and keep you’re hands clear of the reel handle. Craig got a good lesson Sat on how not to palm a reel with a fresh Hybrid pulling on the string. Brrrappappapapapapapapapa was the sound of the plastic reel handle meeting cold wet knuckles, all the while grinning from ear to ear. Man I love Striped fish!

Tell me about it! I’ve had to turn away several trips so far this year and it isn’t looking any better anytime soon. Once the warm weather sticks around,,, and a stable weather pattern emerges our lake Hybrid and Striper will be full on. These are just the babies..

It comes in many colors but at twice the price as black! He did say you could paint it with no problem though. I went with flat black on my boat. I’ll put some pics up as soon as we get some good weather.

This thread motivated me to have the bottom of my Supreme Line X’ed. Got it back today and I’m impressed, big time. I think I’m good for another ten years + of shallow river running now.
Something to consider is letting them Line x your wood instead of glass. It’ll be sealed (no cracks) for life and you won’t need carpet or paint or skid guard. Just something to think about. Its tough stuff and they can paint it on just about anything.

    Two words, Trolling Motor.

It’s a tough bite for me Zach. Buffalo on the other hand will readily eat a #12 BHPT. When we are lucky enough to get low water in the spring it’s an amazing site to see the river full of these big fish tearing it up.

I’d be sure and ask the mechanic about any potential problems with ethanol in a motor that age. Shouldn’t be a problem but I’d still ask.

You could however go with the Tarpon paint scheme and still not desecrate the AirStream name too badly,, just a thought. If were going to paint my vehicle like a fish I’d do a big manly fish anyways.

I think you’ll be happy you did. Home Depot or Lowes should have the stuff. I’d look at maybe coating the top and sides of it with tinted resin and some non skid or just paint it with an oil base paint (be prepared to let it dry for AWHILE, and don’t put too much paint on at once) and you can also put some non skid in the paint. Some of the rubber bottom marine carpet looks nice too and helps keep water off the board. Bottom line is no matter what material you use water isn’t good for it. Marine grade/Pressure treated should last as long as you own the boat but I still like to try and keep it as dry as possible,,,,just in case…

BTW Zach your ability to work with your hands is quite impressive. A lot of people with you’re your background couldn’t even make a sandwich.
