    Hey guys –

Andrew and I went fishing in the canoe yesterday to get in a little more poling practice.

It’s a tough bite for me Zach. Buffalo on the other hand will readily eat a #12 BHPT. When we are lucky enough to get low water in the spring it’s an amazing site to see the river full of these big fish tearing it up.

yes you can catch them very well during spawning time. Look for the carp that stay aside most of the time they are feeding. In the evening when the temperature drops they will also feed well.

Carp need a water temp of 17°C to spawn, if

I’ve seen the same “breaching” behaviour up here even well past spawning time . I’ve often wondered if they were trying to rid themselves of

In my experience with spawning carp in Bull Sluice and in other areas in North/Central GA, the active spawners will not eat.  Like Olle said, the only takers might be the single fish off to the side of the main action.  Don’t waste time casting to fish in groups of 2+.  Those Gold Branch area carp are impressive, too.  I’ve spent a little time chasing them.

I was out Sat. trying to catch the late Hybrid run.  Because that action was inexplicably slow, I ended up hunting carp for a couple hours.  There were lots of spawners, but also a few singles around.  I had 3 shots with one eat that broke my 10 lb tippet as I tried to horse her out of the flooded veg.  I’m really looking forward to the impending carp season.
