MemberJust wanted to see how our IA members in Murfreesboro, TN are doing? I spoke to my parents a little while ago, and they/house are fine (but lots of damage and destruction around/near them), but my dad sent me the news article about all the damage around town and the reported fatalities. He was at a church meeting when it happened and said they were in the basement for a while while all of the sirens were going off.
I hope Mike and Ron and everyone else are o.k. Y’all are all in our prayers.

Joel ThompsonMemberHey All,
I just got off the phone with Ron and he and Mike are ok. Ron said he watched the tornado form right before his eyes and got his family inside to safety. The twister ended up touching down about a mile and a half from his home so he suffered no damage but it sounds like Mikes house was not as lucky. His house was NOT destroyed but did suffer some damage.
This is a real bummer for both Ron and Mike as this is the weekend of their project healing waters fundraiser. It sounds like a couple of the vets that were planning to attend ended up having to change their plans as a result of the storms. Ron assured me they were going to make the best of it and do what ever they could to make it an enjoyable event for the vets that could attend. Gotta love that spirit!
If I hear more I will let you all know.

MemberI live in the Blackman community of Murfreesboro. My house is fine but one down the block was flattened. The tornado went directly over our house just before it touched down and tore about an 8 mile path through the city.

MemberJamesW glad to hear you’re safe — spent time down that way years ago when was training dogs (retrievers) and running field trials — great area and great people — really hope the worse is over — and everybody else in area (and elsewhere down that way) are all safe and sound

MemberThanks for the concern folks. We had one on the ground in front of our house but it lifted up as it passed over us and dropped back down in our back yard. It was scary as hell while it was on us and the silence that followed was the best sound ever. I was looking around my house at the 100+ year old oak ash and maple trees it blew over and we never heard any of them fall. One of them cut my neighbors metal building in half.

MemberI stayed out in the severe storms this weekend in Atlanta and had a blast with the camera. That was probably stupid in hindsight but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot.
Hope everyone is o.k. up in TN

MemberHere’s a shot from our driveway after it came through. This shot only shows a few of the mangled trees on the other side. This is the hill that I think protected our house.
My neighbor took this right before it crossed the road. Our place is inline with the white truck. I wonder if he knew what was behind him? That was about the time I went out to have a look (our power was out) and saw the sky full of swirling debris,,,, OHHH SHIT!

View out our back door after it passed.
Our driveway
My wife’s willow tree. This is the second time it has been knocked over. I was able to save it the first time but it was to far gone and too large to save this time.
The other Willow tree in our back yard, I love these trees but I’m having trouble finding a tornado resistant one.
This was a shed behind my garage. The floor is on top of the pile and one of the double doors was about 200’ away at the top of our drive.
My Garage. Last time the trees didn’t penetrate the roof but this time they did.
That’s a roof fan laying on the right of this image. Looks like it was run over by something.
A giant oak from our back yard.
The mother of all maples next door at my grandfather’s old home. I’ll miss this tree the most. The Ash that fell across the Maple root was two trees in one. It was also two of the biggest tress in the yard. It dropped one in a west direction and the other north. That shed was one my Grandfather built years ago. I was sad to see it fall. He spent alot of time working on

MemberThanks! The only thing hurt were my ears from the wife screaming while it was going over,, or maybe it was me doing all the screaming I don’t recall. ;D
I’ve got a Stihl Farm Boss chainsaw so I’m in good shape for the cleanup. Should be somewhat back to normal by next week I hope!

Mike don’t be afraid to throw some of that cut up oak in Ron Snow’s truck before he heads back up north. I can always use some good fire wood. 😉
Glad to hear you are ok Mike. Our prayers are with all the folks down there.
