MemberI use the 300 yard spools of 50 pound Fireline braid on all my big reels. I pay about $25 per spool. You can get it in white too. Great stuff.
Mike Anderson
MemberA few more. It was a good day for hunting.
Walter Hill was looking angry.

Some Turkeys out enjoying the white stuff

The Deer were also out in numbers.

MemberA few shot at 800.

On January 2nd, 1863 at 3:00 P.M.
there were stationed on this hill
fifty-eight cannon commanding the field
across the river, and as the Confederates
advanced over this field, the shot and shell
from these guns resulted in a loss of
eighteen-hundred killed and wounded
in less than an hour.

“A single rifled gun stands to the south of the parking lot, roughly where the Chicago Board of Trade Battery stood during the January 2 fighting. The gun is a James Rifle using the profile of the Model 1841 6-pdr Field Gun, identified by historians as a “Type 1.” The gun was produced for the State of Connecticut in 1861 by Ames Manufacturing of Massachusetts.”

Union soldiers retreated across this field on January 2, 1863, pursued by Confederate troops under Maj. Gen. John C. Breckinridge. The Southerners were stopped by Mendenhall’s Artillery posted at this position.

MemberI guess if clean images at crazy high ISO and 10fps is your thing then this camera is alright.

MemberGND and ND filters aren’t necessarily for beginners but they are very useful. While I know Zach is alot more proficient then I am with PS, fixing a blown out sky is a major pain. I’ve yet to do one in PS that I could honestly say wouldn’t have been better if the right filter was used.
I have a series of random sky photos now that I can use sometimes to replace a blown out sky but again, I’d rather just fix it in the camera.
Kurt has put up some great sites to learn from.
Check out this thread as well.

MemberMark 4 is on the way.
Mike Anderson
MemberYea that is the only camera that can do it all and wouldn’t need upgrading for very long time. I’m pretty much sold I just want to sleep on it for a few days.
Mike Anderson
MemberI’m considering a used 5dC and and 1DM3 or just a 1DM4. I just don’t think the 5d series alone is going to satisfy me for wildlife stuff and I enjoy shooting that more then anything. Lately I’ve started playing with studio lighting and so forth hence the 5D interest.
Mike Anderson
MemberWhat? I’m not implying the 5d is Junk at all I just like to sure a new model isn’t about to be released before I buy a camera. There are plenty of rumors all over the net about it being replaced this year but looks like mostly just rumors.
I still think that for the $ the 5d2 is the best deal out there for a canon.Mike Anderson
MemberYea I had second thoughts. Not going for the 5D2. I’ve settled on another body… Will be selling the 50D and the 1DM2 really soon.
Mike Anderson
MemberCanon S90 or S95, or G10, or G11, or the newest Lumix from Panasonic.
Personally I’d love to own an S90 or 95.

I noticed when I bought my most recent set of tires that some of the new tread designs have the look of modern art.
Zach
Me too! And when I saw the price I convinced they were modern art.
Mike Anderson
MemberNeal I lucked up and got a deal on an Arca B1 with a RRS clamp on in it on ebay! I can’t wait till UPS Claus drops it off on the porch

MemberHaven’t been to the White in several years so we headed up last weekend. I didn’t realize you were there Zach you could have stayed at our place in Cotter. The day we arrived (fri) they had six generators going and they ran water most all weekend… Decided to hit Norfork on Sat but we discovered that they were running 2 all day despite the scheduled generation. How they get away with doing that in a Trout fishing town is beyond me. We ended up streamer fishing all weekend… Two largest fish came in around 4 or 5 pounds, I don’t measure fish.
That will probably be my last trip to the White. Too much drive time to gamble on water flows and catch only Trout. Zach I agree, what we had on the Cumby blew the White away IMO.
Ohh and Happy birthday whipper snapper.
Mike Anderson
MemberYea but its “tippet”. That alone makes it worth 5 times more then “conventional” firewire.
Mike Anderson
MemberDo they actually grip stuff near the tips? I’ve given up on the “fishing” pliers and I use a Gerber multi tool now.
Mike Anderson
MemberThe Abel pliers sux.

MemberMine is not the Traveler its just the straight up 1541. I don’t know what head yet Neal. I’m open to suggestions but the Arca’s are going to be out of my price range until I get over this tripod purchase,,, and the 550 ex that I couldn’t turn down from craigslist today.. 😀
I’m jonesin to play start playing with multiple flashes and the Radio Popper system. But we’re headed to the White tomorrow so I don’t have time to play.
This was me and my youngest daughter playing with one flash and an umbrella at my grandfathers smokehouse.

Mike Anderson
MemberThe guy in the shop made me a crazy offer on the 1541 Gitzo,, I left with it.
