Tim AngeliMemberHi Mike,
Here is some of what I’ve got for bones.
Tim AngeliMemberWow.
Tim AngeliMemberyou New Zealanders have kind of a national way of holding trout
Haha…I assume you’re talking about the first photo. Don’t get Simon started on that! Honestly, I don’t recall consciously holding the fish like that. I didn’t even notice it until I looked at the photos afterward. In regards to who started it, I have heard a few names thrown around but don’t know enough to say publicly.
Tim AngeliMemberCool to see catch and release works!
Very cool, indeed, Tim. It’s interesting to fish the same stretch of river fairly consistently. I’ve learned a lot from this stretch of water, and have a few nemeses that I’ll be elated if I am able to catch one day. There’s one fish in particular that continually taunts me…I might have to pull a night mission to try to get that one.
I can’t wait to collaborate with you in the future once you finish over there. And I mean on the river! Not the lab.
Looking forward to it Neal. When time and money allow, I’d love to do a tarpon trip with you.
Is the mullet gone?!!!!!
Unfortunately, yes. However, judging from recent results, the Tennessee waterfall might have had bad mojo…fish quality has improved post-mullet.
Tim AngeliMemberReally nice report Neal.
Tim AngeliMemberAwesome colors on those brookies.
Tim AngeliMemberO for awesome, as always.
Tim AngeliMemberTim, another good report buddy! Let’s do it again sometime really soon.
Like this weekend.
Tim AngeliMemberNice tree Tim.
I hate it when trees suddenly jump right in the way of a perfectly good picture…
Maybe we need to have an international meeting somewhere that we ALL travel to?
I’d love to.
Tim AngeliMemberGlad you guys enjoyed some of the photos.
Eric – unfortunately, the gun isn’t mine.
Tim AngeliMemberNice photos Zach.
Tim AngeliMemberWow!
Tim AngeliMemberThanks Zach. We tend to see a lot of deer sign on most of these rivers, and since we were planning on spending multiple nights backpacking, we figured we may get the chance to do some hunting in the evenings. There are red, fallow, and sika in the area, but I think it’s mainly reds. We didn’t end up getting any shots at deer on this trip, although we saw a few reds on distant hillsides.
Browns still spawn in the fall here. I’m by no means an expert on the NZ fishery, and some of the kiwis on the board would surely be able to give more detail on the spawning behavior of fish here than I. However, from my experience over the last couple of years, the spawning season seems to have a longer duration down here than in the states. The egg in the picture above was more-or-less just for fun, but it worked. Like a lot of places, eggs can work here well into spring.
Tim AngeliMemberNice photo Joel. Good to see the JJ Bugger getting it done, even in the harshest conditions…
I’ve ventured out in some pretty cold, harsh weather chasing great lakes steelhead and fishing some of the tailwaters in the Rockies, but my sentiments are much the same as Mike’s. It’s not much fun when you have to clear the ice from your guides after every cast. I don’t mind clearing them throughout the day, but when it gets to the point where the line is freezing in the guides after every one or two casts, I find myself heading home much sooner than I would have on warmer days.
Tim AngeliMemberCan’t wait to see the images from the Seychelles trip, Matt.
Tim AngeliMemberGood on ya Lando.
Tim AngeliMemberLooks like a great trip, and a great report to match. A prefect reminder that I need to start saving my pennies for another trip chasing bones…
Tim AngeliMemberNice report Rick.
Tim AngeliMember
Almost decided to give it away to the Frenchies in the final, but held on for a 8-7 win that almost gave me a heart attack.
Tim AngeliMemberLooks like you’ve got that musky game dialed in down there Travis.
