I have been fishing one since 4 weeks after it was released…
THE best line I have ever fished. Got it on my 5wXP…
You get over the finger burns, took me 3 trips to figure everything out.
You get over the noise, I actually think it helps my casting, you know when the line is working, cause it sings to you. I find myself missing something when I fish a non-SS…
Here’s what I like…
Hydrophobic – I can pick up 15m of line, and move it without thinking about it.
Shoot ability – I can shoot almost a full line with only 5m out behind me.
Wear ability – I am generally hard on lines, one season and turn a DT around or replace it, this is close to 2 seasons old, and it looks like it came out of the box.
Versatility – I can present an emerger perfectly at 20m, or chuck a nymph, or roll it miles, or switch cast it to the horizon, yet, I can high stick it with 2m out, or flutter a RAB at 5m…My 2cents… and I have only fished it in fresh water…
As soon as i-Tunes sees my credit card details, I am back in SA…
I think I am going to try again with that step by step, lets see if it thinks I am an American…
This account thing means I cant download music or other stuff… Even had a problem subscribing my podcasts…
I still say that you should write a book, “Photography for the Fly Fisherman”…

#2 folks who pull up to a boat ramp with one of those trailers that hold a dozen canoes/kayaks. The boat ramp soon becomes littered with wetsuits, paddles, pfds and kayaks while their owners casually put on sunscreen.
I made the mistake of assuming that these people would move their gear out of the way when I backed the trailer down the ramp one day. It’s amazing how upset people get when you run their lifejacket and paddle over with a trailer.
Ha HA… that is easy to picture… HA ha
You forgot to put the bung plug in… it’s going to be a long, cold, wet day…
I also hate it when people don’t have their motor in good working order, then sit there on the trailer or ramp trying to get it working.
Or, once the boat is on the water, come back the ramp, to collect their fishing mates.
My top hate…
People who insist on washing their boat down on the ramp, quiet or busy… PLEASE don’t do it… I watched 4 youngster slip on a ramp after some guy washed his boat down with some high powered degreaser, and then the truck needed to engage 4 wheel drive to get out. If had been a “normal” car, it would never have made it out.I had the same issue when I started tying them, but after trying a few different methodes have settled on a combination…
First lightly dress your hook shank, then add you hair towards the eye, take the thread infront of where you want your wing, start a little behind the eye. Then spin it to the wing and press it up to the wing. Remeber it will try fall forward, so do a few extra turn, i like it to point a bit back, before I am happy.
Once you are happy, Barrs method of adding a little head cement to the base of the wing once it has settled…This is the coolest thing I have seen in years…
Questions:
1. Where do you live? it looks like it is in the woods, I cant really come all that way to steal your boat, just looks like a hell of a place to spend one’s time.
2. I see one or two screws, but the rest is all proper carpentry stuff, joins and techniques, it has to be some sort of passion?
3. Has it ever seen the water? Do you have a pic of her doing what she does best??
4. What is your estimate at work hours?
5. If, and this is only to get a value on a piece of workmanship like that, if you were to sell her, what would you value at??Thanks you for sharing, it is a stunning accomplishment and worth sharing with us…

Well where do you think the fly tying material producers get their stuff??? There have to be purple, yellow, green, chartreuse, orange, etc… almost any color deer, all kept well away from the public’s prying eyes…
Great photos, but is that vetting on the right of the first pic, what’s going on there.
I love my waist pack, but can’t seem to find a compromise between a back pack, Patagonia, and a waist pack…
In the mountains, I have to carry a back pack, with fleece, rain jacket, beanie, first aid kit, snake bite kit, re-hydration kit, food, etc…
My nearest fishable stream is an hour and a half away, but it gets hot, so a pack is again the best, even though you are close to the car, you can’t drink the water in the stream, so I drop a hydration pack in the back pack, I will kill ½ a gallon in the morning and another in the afternoon. When its cooler, or overcast, I fish it with a waist pack.But waist packs have their own issues, where do you put the DSLR, Lens’s and other stuff, I now have more gadgets and gismos with me on the river than ever before. I have minimized my fishing stuff, but seem to be expanding in the other areas… I can’t drop the DSLR onto my chest, if I can’t see my feet, I fall over…
Personally, a waistpack (my preferred name – don’t try “fanny pack” on our Aussie friends) …
Or us South Africans… but it is getting better understood, what with you Yanks invading all our TV space… Like we could ever make a decent Movie or Series… we only have good / hot actresses… LOL
A good mate of mine is off to En Zed for 4, yes FOUR, weeks of fishing in his new Guide Boots… We will see the resualts…
