We all know the one about, our greatest fear is that we die and our wives sell our kit for the price we told her we paid for it…

But

You need a curator, now this is where it is going to get interesting, your curator is going to have to have integrity, they could say to your bereaved wife, “Nah, it’s not really worth much, here’s $500 and I’ll take it off your hands for you”, or they could have a little respect and give her the correct price, your wife will probably then say, “Thank you so much for your honesty, and for that you may choose any one of the rod / reel combos for yourself”, thus posing an even more interesting question for you curator…

Ok, I actually recognized the baboons, which immediately brought to mind an article I read some time ago about how a baboon attacks a human.  If I remember right, the gist of it was that this nearly man-sized creature, with strength greater than the strongest NFL linebacker, simply latches on somewhere around the shoulders and then attempts to tear the human victim’s face off with its enormous, dog-like incisors.  I recall the same article saying that baboons hunt in troops and that some troops are peaceful and specialize in vegetation and small game, while other troops are warlike and attack bigger animals like, oh, people.

Any truth to that?  If so, will these stay tame as they grow?

Just to correct, and I would have made the same mistake, they are Baboons, baby ones, but Baboons nontheless… yip, like little monkeys, but with attitiude… one of the animals you don’t want to meet on a dark night…

I originally found this site by searching for fly fishing photography.  I wanted very much to take good pictures of my flies but couldn’t figure it out on my own.  Thanks to the wonderful people here and much (much!) studying and practice I have been able to make a bit of sense out of a very complex process. Over the past year I have focused most of my energy on macro photography and I shy away from commenting on other fields since it is out of my league. These notes are in no way professional advice, rather an attempt to give something back.  

Thanks to all the pros here that have offered great foundation advice on photographing flies.  

I look forward to seeing other people’s setups, comments and pictures on this topic of fly photography.  Still so much to learn.

Can’t remember how I bumped into this site… oh wait, I was searching for fly casting videos, before YouTube became full of them… I remember thinking, these videos are pretty poor, but far better than the other stuff I had found, and that this site looks a little different and interesting… Must have been when there were only 4 or 5 podcasts up.
I just read the board here and there, but started realizing the importance of the info that the members posted. I can still thinking that the posts were long winded and a waste of time, “Hell, I can’t read all of that, it’s just drivel…” then I read all of that and it hit me how poor the other forums information was.

So, I stand with you Neal, I have learnt more from this place than almost anywhere else…
