Mike McKeownMemberI just want to LoL…
Alan, your pics are good, I thought that first time I ran into your website…
On the expensive stuff, don’t insult me by telling me I am a tjop for buying and fishing expensive gear, I like it… I don’t comment on the pens, pencils, paints and canvas you use for you art, don’t comment on what I use for mine…
On the technical stuff, the more technical, the more I enjoy it… and I don’t mind getting skunked just because I couldn’t imitate the natural.
Elitist, nope, those are the guys who live on a golf estate and have drinks at the club everyday… you want to go fishing, any time, any where, learn something from you, I HELL of a hope so….
Mike McKeownMemberI would like to look at it slightly differently.
I have just seen the same add in 4 different magazines, the exact same add… although it was a good add, the different positioning and layout of the add changed depending on where it was and on which page it was placed, and what content surrounded it.
IMHO.
3. is a back cover add, great impact and nothing to clutter it.
1. is a right hand page
thus 2. a left hand pageHowever, I know nothing… But I think the photos are great, but agree with the clean up of the trees and the fading of the logo.
They all catch the eye, if I was in the market, then I would respond well to all of them.
Lastly… if I was to change just one, it would be #3, I would move the house up, zoom it out slightly, leaving more dark below it and move all the copy to the bottom.
Mike McKeownMemberkeep em coming, starting to feel the fibreglass itch, might have to find me a similar project…

Mike McKeownMemberPS I went ahead and ordered a real condenser microphone for the studio and a noise-canceling lapel mike. Hopefully the sound quality will respond accordingly.
Whats this, spending real money on equipment???

Mike McKeownMemberCan”t wait…
Mike McKeownMemberIt’s seldom about the fish, but more often about the fishing…
Nice thread, nice posts…
I like this…
The thought that your trophy 14” fish is just around the next corner or that the black eagles, that have been stalking you for the last hour, might put on a display, or the Lammergeyer, that has been circling might drop in for a closer look, or that I might stumble across the spoor of a Karakul or an Otter. The thought that it is not the fish, nor the fishing, not even the idea that a fish might rise, but purely in “the being there”, that makes it what it is… I am not a fisherman, I am a mountain wanderer, that fact that I wander along some remote streams making some rudimentary gestures with a fly rod, makes me a fisherman…
-Me-
Mike McKeownMemberCrane Fly’s, I think, but would need more info…
