MemberI’m fascinated to hear the updates from locals – it’s interesting to compare them to what we hear from the media.

MemberAnd Tim – I was too busy trying to keep the canoe straight and in position for Zach to fish effectively to even think about the camera.

MemberYou should problaby tip him something and you should problably find out from Zach what kind of technique he learned from Tiger Woods, that sounds interesting… 😕

MemberIt was a great day! Â A huge thank you to David and Becky! Â Beautiful weather, nice fish, great company. Â
And I wholeheartedly second Zach’s recommendations: if you are looking for a great guide up there, give David a call (he’s patient and calm when they are called for, great company, and gets really excited about the fish  :)) and Unicoi Outfitters is a really cool shop!

MemberI’ve comfortably wet waded on numerous occasions in my Chacos. Â Minimal dry time, minimal slippage (in the river and in the strap system), super comfortable, and great for hikes in and out.

MemberGlad some of you are getting a chance to see the film tour as it rolls through your area! Â
I had never been to anything like this before, and I had a great time!  Cool footage, nice to see the fly fishing community out together, and always great to be able to support the local shop and guys like Paul who work hard to put these things together and get them to the ATL.  (And how often does a woman get the opportunity to see the line to the men’s room snaking into the lobby while there is no line to the ladies’ room?  That alone was worth the price of admission. 😉 ) Â
Was every minute of every film necessary?  No.  Could things have been done differently?  Sure.  But you could say that about nearly any event, whether it is inside the fly fishing industry or outside of it.  Zach, Andrew, and I all had fun, and I absolutely plan to attend the next one.  🙂

MemberI thought I remembered them advertising themselves as breeding “dual setters” – setters that looked like show dogs but had also been bred and trained to hunt and hunt well.
lauren
MemberMichael, are your friends the dual-purpose Setters folks?
(And love that pup pic!

MemberI’d add to all of this that you might consider renting out a couple of large houses/lodges.

MemberI’m in the middle of dissertation writing at the moment, so I haven’t listened yet. Â I’m actually actively trying to come up with a title for the tome (and for each of the chapters that make it up), so I’ve got my eyes open for titles at the moment. Â I plan to listen when I get a bit of free time, but from what I can gather based on comments and the good title, it sounds like a podcast with a point that should ring true for lots of people, esp. anglers. Â Seems like as a group we like to over-purchase for our hobbies, seduced by the maybe and the future (or the past and the potential for recreating that past) the items can represent. Â These kinds of emotions are stock in trade for manufacturers and ad people and have been forever. Â
Long answer to say this: I haven’t listened yet, but I plan to.  And I find the title and the concept very intriguing.  🙂
