Joel ThompsonMemberCoreyk I am working on getting the approval to do some online sales. When I do I will let you all know. Of course I will be offering an Itinerant Angler member discount. π

Joel ThompsonMemberHey Zach I am all most positive that you did some of this casting on a video yourself. I know this because I clearly remember trying to entice you to come to Montana and give me a lesson. By the way I would still be up for that lesson! π
Why don’t post that video on this thread so Matt can see what that cast is really suppose to look like.

Joel ThompsonMemberDrifter I have packed in a float tube on several occations, but it all depends on how long I am staying and how much gain in elevation there is along the way.
I grew up in the town where Gary LaFontaine use to live and he took his float tube everywhere! I use to use a pack goat to do his dirty work though and the older I get the more that sounds like a really good idea! π If you have never packed one in I would highly reccomend doing it at least once. There is nothing more peaceful in this world then being in the middle of a high mountain lake fly fishing in your float tube. You will experience peace like you have never felt before.

Joel ThompsonMemberI live for the backpacking fishing trip! These pictures are from a trip that I took with some old college roomates two years ago in the Beartooths. Our base camp was at just over 10,000 feet at a lake named Jasper Lake. The fishing was good and there were a lot of nice sized Yellowstone cutthroat in this and near by lakes. I fished every morning and every evening. Spent the days climbing peaks. (We bagged 3 peaks over 12,000 ft in three days!) The memories from this trip will remain with me forever!

Joel ThompsonMemberHey Gburg!
It does look like some of them are the same. Shorter versions on the Drake.
Joel ThompsonMemberHey Cameron! No they did not have vol. II for sale only vol. I. Infact the guy who was the M.C. said that they were still doing the finishing touches on vol II and hoped to have it out soon. My guess is that your copy has not been sent yet. We did get to see a little bit from vol II last night and I think it will be worth the wait. Remember this line “God save the queen”. It will make a lot more since to you once you watch the film. π

Joel ThompsonMemberAnd here is what it will look like on shirts! As some of you may have noticed the two flies have been removed from the logo. They just didn’t sew in all that well. I still had them digitize the flies though so I could add them to the back of the neck on a shirt or at the end of the sleeve.
Feel free to post any of your comments good or bad. I can take it. π

Joel ThompsonMemberThought you all would enjoy seeing the logo sewn on. Here it is simplified on a hat.
Joel ThompsonMemberPoudre I have that exact pack from fish pond. I like it but I will tell you this. Remove the foam bug holder! All it will do is flatten your flies! If you take it out you should have enough room for another fly box up there.
Just my two cents.

Joel ThompsonMemberI thought it was a great article! You couldn’t get me down there though with all those big ass snakes! I don’t care how much fun they are to fish for!!
I really like the pictures of the pirana that ran in American Angler. Man those are some teeth!!!
Speaking of American Angler….I know subscribe to it because of you Zach, so be sure to get your cut from them. π
Joel ThompsonMemberI too am a huge fan of NPR. Our local NPR station here in Missoula is great! They have a program everyday from 12:30 to 13:00 where they read stories on the air. That is where I first came across Gierach. The best part about it was the guy who read his stories was from Austrailia and was very animated when he was reading. I remember I couldn’t wait to hear what was going to happen next at the end of each reading. Kind of reminded me of the kind of radio our parents and grandparents might of listened to.
I love the assortment of Folk, Bluegrass, Jazz, and even good old rock-n-roll they have on from time to time. But my favorite all time show on NPR goes to…..Car Talk!!! Those guys have never failed to put a huge smile on my face! π
If any of you are ever passing through Missoula it is 89.1 on the radio dial. You won’t be disappointed!

Joel ThompsonMemberHey Richard how did you like working with Andy Anderson? I was involved with him in a photo shot we had at the ranch I work at and he seamed like a pretty darn nice guy.

Joel ThompsonMemberI agree it is easy to point the blame flyfishertoo, but you have to admit that this president definitely lacks in environmentaly friendly policies. I don’t want to get into a big political debate. I would just like to see more being done to protect what we can’t replace.

Joel ThompsonMemberMendingMachine you are just throwing salt in the wound buddy! I would have given anything to be there as it was about as nice of a weekend as you could ask for in late January. I had to take some people snowmobiling and it ended up being a very expensive weekend! π One snowmobile found a stump and anothers primary clutch blew up! Ohhh how I wish I would have gone fishing!!!
Touch base with me again when we get closer to March as I would like to hook up!

Joel ThompsonMemberIt is pretty amazing stuff DMK. We have been fighting like hell here in Montana since Bush took office to protect the Rock Mountain front from the government coming in and drilling for coal methane. We also have a big battle brewing up in Canada (B.C.) where they want to do the same right next Glacier Park and the North Fork of the Flathead which is some of the best Bull Trout habitat in the lower 48!
Joel ThompsonMemberI too really enjoyed Pale Morning Done by Jeff Hull. Another one I got a kick out of that is a quick read was Guiding Elliott. Not sure on the author as I have loaned that one out and I can’t remember the guys name.
I also like Gierach’s stuff, but prefer it on tape when I am on a road trip! π
