MemberSuggest you check out “Ninety-two in the Shade” by Tom McGuane. Not a fishing book, per se, but a book with lots of fishing. Better yet, it’s a book with lots of laughs. McGuane is a serious writer, and a writer with a seriously good wit. McGuane’s done his share of non-fiction work too, in case you’re interested.
One caveat: Certain women might find this book objectionable. That’s just a guess, since I’ve never had such a discussion. But I’d have to say it’s a book for guys, not gals.

MemberAlthough not written as such, a substantial portion of The One That Got Away by Howell Raines might be considered fiction.

MemberHey Steve — I made exactly that point in a post you can find elsewhere on this board. What’s incredible to me is that Raines lost his job at the New York Times because a fabricator (Jason Blair) brought him down.
And now Raines himself appears to be … yep … a fabricator. Incredibly, this subject has yet to be discussed in any mainstream journalism circles. I’m guessing it never will be.

The Itinerant AnglerFly-fishing fiction seems to me to basically be limited to the short form; novellas, short stories, and essays.

Joel ThompsonMemberI too really enjoyed Pale Morning Done by Jeff Hull. Another one I got a kick out of that is a quick read was Guiding Elliott. Not sure on the author as I have loaned that one out and I can’t remember the guys name.
I also like Gierach’s stuff, but prefer it on tape when I am on a road trip! 😉

The Itinerant AnglerIf you guys have actually met Prosek, well… let’s just say the exploits are a bit surprising.
