MemberFunny Neal. That happens to be the project I am currently building in the middle of the first shot. Cool pictures.
Andrew, which building? Do you work for Hardin on one of the Terminus buildings? I grew up in Atlanta and am currently in Building Science program at Auburn.

MemberGuys, thanks for the comments. As for the HDR waterfall pic, the original picture was slightly out of focus. Somehow in the HDR process, it turned that shot into a much better picture. Combining the exposures added a better contrast of light and dark + great detail which was previously lost in shadows.
Thanks again for your comments–they are much appreciated.

MemberIn Aperture, right click the photo and export version as a jpeg. One of the options for jpeg export is fit within 640 x 640. That is small enough to fit into a page without having to scroll. Upload that file you just exported from Aperture to flickr, photomug, or any photo hosting website. Once you upload your picture to the site, you can get it to tell you the link that takes you directly to your picture. Get that link and copy paste it directly into your message body on this site inbetween the and tags. You can then put multiple links to multiple photos in your message.

Anyways, I just got an XSI too. I got the kit lens and a 55-250mm lens. I’m taking it with me to Tanzania and Kenya for the next two weeks!

MemberHey Jay-
I have the Canon 75-300 f3.5-4.6 IS and it worked well in Alaska for me. I think this lens is going for around $500. I got some decent eagle shots, keep in mind that I was not using a tripod…

I can’t seem to find a canon 75-300 IS lens. could it be the 70-300 one? does any legit third party company make a similar lens cheaper without losing the image stabilization feature?

MemberAre the Russian brides less expensive to maintain than the American ones? I’ve already got an American wife and honestly, I don’t see how I could afford another one.

American Wife Goods For Sale:
1 Treadmill. Walked on twice after hearing the promise of “I’ll use it everyday.” How was I to know she meant use it everyday to hang the clothes on after taking them out of the dryer.1 case of never read books including titles like “The Human Body, The Owner’s Manual”, “Lose 10 Pounds In 10 Days” etc after hearing “I need this” about a zilliion times.
1 Complete set of drums still in box after hearing “I want to learn the drums” about a zillion times.
1 Fender StratoCaster-Red-Professionally reconditioned-Played only by me on the rare occasion (I’m an acoustic guy) after hearing “I just have to have a red Strat and learn bottleneck slide licks” about a zillion times.
Many other items. If your American Wife want’s it, mine probably has it for sale.
I don’t have any idea of the wants and needs of a Russian Wife, but I doubt they can be more expensive.
😉
With vodka prices reaching 4 dollars a gallon, russians brides are becoming more and more expensive to fuel… arguably more expensive than American brides.

“Dennison Research Blood Knot Tier
We’ve sold a bunch of these over the years. It is well designed tool to hold both ends of your leader material while providing a post to wrap around to tie the blood knot. Excellent design and a great help for those who have trouble with blood knots. Complete instructions included.”jay mcdaniel
MemberZach, you mean chuck’s firearms, right?
Ron, you’re in Georgia, right? Best place would probably be Jack’s Firearms right next to The Fish Hawk. Totally nice guy, totally up-and-up, lots of great guns on the walls and I’m sure he knows how to get less-great guns.
As it happens, I am about to buy my first o-u shotgun myself, from James Buice. He’s got a Beretta 686 Black Onyx (all-blued, field-grade, but very nice). It’s a 12 gauge; hopefully I’ll be overkilling on doves and squirrels this fall then bringing down a few pheasants in Arkansas over the winter.
This gun is making me drool:

Good thing James is a buddy or I’d never be able to afford it.

MemberI found the yallar hammer, which they call a yellarhammer. I have ordered from here before. They are very very nice; however, it can take a few days for them to ship.

MemberAnd remember. When was the last time a fish asked you what kind of rod just caught him? If you like it and are comfortable with it, you catch fish. Comfort is the key to that statement.
These Orvis sales are great. I bought 3 CFO reels for $100 a couple of years ago and some other reels as well. I bought a second set of waders for friends as well and I do not know how many of those old soft wading shoes they use to sell. They were like wearing converse high tops which was good in the little mountain creeks. Not so good with the spring creeks out west.
Hope to see you out there. All the suggestions from the other post are good water.

Exactly. You know, sometimes I get caught up in the material world–who makes it/what model is it/is it the latest and greatest? Its nice that this rod can’t fall into that trap.
It may be because I went on Saturday, but the Orvis sale this year was not as great as the previous years. There was only one pair of waders and the rods and were as picked over as a wal-mart on christmas eve. Maybe It would have been better to go on friday.
Thanks again for the suggestions on North Georgia. Ill let yall know when I’ve figured out my plans. Anyways I’m on the Chattahoochee DH almost every pretty day after school (Cochran Shoals, Whitewater, Paces 41) if you ever go there.

MemberAwesome guys. Ill see what my friends think. I assume they are all in national/state park areas? Is there national parks website that would have all of these areas and their information/rules and regulations/camping areas?
jay mcdaniel
MemberRight right. ok, well im completely okay with that. I don’t need to know what it is–the fact that I payed just 100 bucks for a rod that helps me cast good loops easily is good enough. Plus if someone asks me what type of rod it is on the river, I can just be like “yeah its an orvis prototype… no biggie.” Thanks for the help.
jay mcdaniel
MemberIn shade it appears to be dark grayish black. In light it looks like a lighter gray. If its in direct sunlight it appears to be banded. This picture shows all those aspects. I had a chance to cast it in my backyard today. It has a very stiff middle and flexible tip. I found I could cast perfect tight loops right off the bat. It felt like one of Orvis’ higher end rods–and I’m not just saying that to make myself feel better about my impulse purchase.
