MemberI seem to use surgeon knots a lot and don’t use blood knots very much, but I always liked the trick in this video:
http://flyfisherman.com/videos/hemostatknots/index1.htmlI think I got this video from here originally, but I figured some new people may find it useful.

MemberHi All and Thank-you for the information!!!
A fishing friend tossed me the tool after he found it in a box of assorted “stuff” he had traded for.

“Dennison Research Blood Knot Tier
We’ve sold a bunch of these over the years. It is well designed tool to hold both ends of your leader material while providing a post to wrap around to tie the blood knot. Excellent design and a great help for those who have trouble with blood knots. Complete instructions included.”Apr 22, 2008 at 7:35 pm #26256daniel leinart freeman

MemberMatt,
If your Dennison tool has the metal center post you can sell it as an heirloom!!!!Apr 23, 2008 at 12:36 pm #26260
Cameron MortensonMemberYeah…I don’t know why they started making them with a plastic post instead.

Dennison Leader Making Vise. I use one to build my leaders but have no clue how to ‘splain it. You can purchase them here: http://www.flyfishusa.com/leaders/leader-accesories.html#Dennison
I also saw them on the Hook and Hackle website. I think they retail for 9 bones.

MemberBrett, please shoot us a picture of that Flip Pallot leader holder, sounds interesting. Also, did you mean “tippet” holder or leader holder?
