MemberThe fishing was horrible, but I guess that was ok as I had a new toy with me. All critiques are welcome!

MemberTwo issues with posting this:
I tried to post multiple images, but I do not know how.
Using Aperture, how do I down size the photo enough so that the image fits without having to scrollup or down?
Thanks,

Matt JonesMemberDusty, I use photobucket (online photo storage), copy/paste the image tags into the message.

MemberIn Aperture, right click the photo and export version as a jpeg. One of the options for jpeg export is fit within 640 x 640. That is small enough to fit into a page without having to scroll. Upload that file you just exported from Aperture to flickr, photomug, or any photo hosting website. Once you upload your picture to the site, you can get it to tell you the link that takes you directly to your picture. Get that link and copy paste it directly into your message body on this site inbetween the and tags. You can then put multiple links to multiple photos in your message.

Anyways, I just got an XSI too. I got the kit lens and a 55-250mm lens. I’m taking it with me to Tanzania and Kenya for the next two weeks!

MemberSounds like I need to look into photobucket! Thanks guys. Jay, what do you think so far about your new camera? Make sure to bring back some pics for us. what species does one fish for in Tanzania and Kenya. And Matt, will we be seeing any salmonid pics from Alaska while you are still up there?

MemberAnd Jay,
Thanks for the outstanding instructions. That helps. I figured out how to do that last night from my .Mac website, which is where I keep some of my photos after I play around with them in Aperture. Previously, I had been trying to export to the desktop, then browse for them and pic whichever photo. I did not know each image had to have a URL attached, which is why it took until last night until I finally uploaded a personal avatar.

David AndersonMemberDusty, well done for getting yourself a camera and getting out there with it, and nice work !
A couple comments on the shots.
IMHO-In the first one the tree line runs very close behind the anglers head and he doesn’t stand out as well as he could.
If you look a little more up or down at him you will change the perspective. On the fish shot there’s also a lot of distraction in the background, to fix that you again, change the angle so you get more of the ground or more of the sky – whatever makes the fish stand out more.
I used to shoot a lot of shots of both those situations and move around while doing it to get the best results – after a while you see what’s going to work before you shoot.

MemberDavid,
That makes perfect sense, changing of perspective. And the bad part about all of it is I have been reading somewhat heavily lately and come across that idea more than once. I still get excited when a fish is around, so I guess all of what I spent the week reading went right out the window when my buddy yelled “Fish On!” We neophytes need you veterans to get together and write a book: Fly Fishing Photography Aesthetics, or something along those lines. You all consistently give useful advice.
Thank you,
Dusty -
