Oh, and like Drifter I’ll do you the favor of taking it off your hands, but I’ll give you $125.oo and a good bottle of Aussie red.

    Why suffer, sell it.

John, the SCS (if memory serves :D) were only made for a short time.
I had one of the SCS 7’9 #3’s and it was a brilliant rod – fast for a scott.
They were well made as well and not cheap.

Never tried the 8’8 #4, though IMO Scott do nice stuff in the 2 – 4 weight range and the SCS shouldn’t be any exception.

I broke mine and even though it took me over 5 years to send it in (or maybe because ;)) Scott replaced it with a new S3 model (also very nice).

I think you got a real deal there.

I always assume that my gear WILL fail – it’s just a question when
Apple has never let me down in my assumption, I have a 100% failure rate on Apple computers.

The last couple of years has seen an explosion in the number of ‘photographers’ out there.

There’s also a huge number of people in graphics who are shooting their own stuff and I even came across a make-up artist who’s started shooting.

Unfortunatly for pro’s a lot of these people will work for near nothing and sell photos to our markets for what ever they get because they don’t need to make a living from it.

I don’t want to sound bitter or upset about the situation because there’s nothing I can do about it and it’s just the way things in the digital world are.

Let us know when you’re coming down.

Not all the destinations here are expensive, Hervey Bay for example might cost (fully guided on a boat)

Lens Babies are cool for the money..

Morsie got some great shots with his on our recent UnZudian adventure – it’s a look you don’t really get from anything else.

They are fiddly to use in my limited experience.

David’s right, rent one before you buy – they’re not a cake walk to use.

I have the 24 & 90 Canon tilts and I think they’re great, but not something you would use all that often.

I tried the 85 Nikon a while back as well (out of interest) and it’s a very sharp lens.
If you want good tilt effects you need to go longer rather than wider Zach.

    Have fun.

in reply to: Nikon strikes back #62204

I just had a week with a loaner 1Ds III and I have to say it’s damn good – the high ISO is much better than my DsII’s.
And the detail is just awesome with one of the sharper lenses.
    (I tested with an 85 1.2L and 300 F4 L – both are tack sharp)

The new Nikon is very impressive at high ISO but IMHO the stuff at 200 ISO is a bit average.
I bet that improves with the high MP version they’re putting out soon, but we wait & see.

Nikon are going to need there high MP version sooner rather than later –

I hear a wisper that the new 6D when it comes out next year is going to be VERY high MP.. πŸ˜‰

You don’t have to worry about crocs in Weipa, the sharks ate them all… πŸ˜‰ ;D

Last time I was there we worked out that everyone on the boat should have a badassafied handgun so if one fell in the others could take them out before the sharks got busy..

You would need some fast shooters..
