MemberH2 should be here this Fall (Oct 1?).
Sounds like a “jump” in tech is coming…
The guy at my local Orvis store told me Spring for the H2.
I was surprised, bc I’d expect them to come out before Xmas.
*shrug*
The last thing I heard was four models out before Christmas, a lot of the others in January, and the rest coming in April.

MemberAs long as they can keep the dealers stocked I don’t think it’ll be an issue since they plan on charging shipping and sales tax on all orders it’ll still be cheaper to buy products through a local shop (if you have one).
Right now I’m waiting on a particular bag from Simms that has been backordered for several months.

MemberHey Peter,
I’d look more into a driftboat “skiff” style design. I think it would have more appeal down in the Southeast.
I run a Native Driftboat for my freshwater guide service in Florida. There aren’t many driftboats in Florida but it work surprisingly well in the small lakes and ponds. I also float a couple rivers but they’re almost two hours away from the shop and put-in and take outs are spaced pretty far apart so it’s only full day trips.
My boat is 14′ x 48″ and it’s a little tight when I have two big guys with me.
As for rod storage, it’s been an issue for me as well as the Native doesn’t have anything designed for it. My best fix so far has been a 2 piece double rod holder. That way I can have clients fishing two rods and two extra’s packed away.
I’d be very interested in what you come up with.

MemberI haven’t used or seen the Cortland…but I have a Drift 2/3 that I’ve been using for about a year now and I’ve been very happy with it.

MemberI’ve got a couple different rods I really enjoy fishing on small streams…
Orvis Superfine Touch 8′ 4wt…a little big, but maybe a great second rod.
Orvis Superfine Touch 6’6″ 3wt…probably my favorite for tighter streams.
Bamboo 6’6″ 3wt…very slow and if I had to get rid of one this would be it.
Old Orvis 7’9″ 5wt…I fish it with a four wt and it’s one of my favorites.
Redington CT 7’6″ 3wt…a great all around rod…I have it for clients but use it quite a bit myself.I would really look at the Redington CT (Classic Trout) Rods.

MemberBoth really. I’d like to be able to get decent pictures from the get go on Auto but I’d also like something I can grow into as I learn the different settings.
I guess to put it in fly rod terms I’m not looking for a Sage TCR, that can do great things with a skilled caster. I’m looking for a z-axis, something that is still nice but suitable for a beginner with room to grow.

MemberYeah I’d like to see a photo…
I have a Native driftboat…it’s HPDE similar to the Boulders with wood trim, rubrails and whatnot.

MemberShe only goes on the boat for pond trips. Wading she does pretty well but not really a water dog.
