Depends on how quick it gets warm…you may have the roaring fork to fish too.

I’ve caught them in south Florida mostly under tree’s dropping berries with a purple/black egg type fly.

    The website looks good Peter…

What are your trips going to be guided out of?

in reply to: Guiding Questions #42601

First I’d look into all your legal issues and expenses…

    Set up a LLC

Get the proper insurance and licensing…(guide license, capts license, occupational license…pretty much specific to your state and I don’t know about Alabama)

The lodge might be a great idea but also a lot more liability and legal issues come along with it.

For pricing I’d look into your competition…who else provides a similar service in your area.

The manager has a samsung hd camcorder.

in reply to: Orvis hooks? #58006

I’ve tied about 1200 flies in the last two months on orvis hooks mostly in the sizes you’re talking about.

    Great video.

    Hey Brad,

I have my CCI and guide full time, Colorado in the summer and central Florida during the school year (still a full time college student).

The main reason I got the CCI is because I wanted to learn how to teach more effectively.

Sounds like a good class. Id like to take the test, but the closet place that i see it being offered is Arkansas. I think the FFF needs to make it available in more areas for people to take.

You just need 1 Board of Governors or 2 Master Casting Instructors to give you the test and workshop.

If you’re really interested I would look on the FFF website and see if there are any near you.

I wore the simms sandels all last summer.

in reply to: Boca Grande Florida Fish Kill??? #41426

It looks like the kill was limited to the snook caught in open water.

I think that was the main problem down south in the Everglades.

in reply to: Podcast Audience #41302

Great work on the podcast…I’m subscribed on iTunes so I get them as they come out…but I really only listen to them when I’m tying which the last few weeks has been alot.

in reply to: Y’all Ready? #41320

I’m probably one of the younger guys on this board I’m 24…when I started fly fishing in 1996 I can remember saving money to go to the book store and buy a new magazine.

Since high speed internet in the last few years I’ve probably only bought 4 or 5 magazines…and I think all of those were bought in airports.

I don’t have any problem reading online magazine like this is fly and like being able to search for more material on a given topic easily.

in reply to: Moffitt Fly Systems: anyone use them #37912

I have a few of the sample kits.

Fish the caddis hatch on the Eagle river.

in reply to: So, Poling… #35521

First off gheenoe’s are harder to pole than a regular flats skiff as you’ve found out already.  I used to have a gheenoe classic, a little wider than  Andrew’s boat but pretty similar design.

As far as an online article it doesn’t get any better than this one by Tom Mitzlaff.

Good luck, a little practice and it’s not to difficult.

in reply to: Possible Move To Florida to Fish..Whadya Think? #32419

Well I grew up and live in Miami.

in reply to: So you think you know it all…. #32296

Recently received this via e-mail. Opinions?

I think you need a better spam filter.

All that said, the price for this Angler All-Star Game is ridiculous. Three grand? Are you kdding me? I’d hire any one of them for a day at top rates, top it off with a C-note tip and steak dinner, if wanted. But three grand?

    Nice sales pitch.
