MemberI will say this and know I will get the “so much more to the river….”, but you got to hit the “Toilet Bowl” up at least for part of one day.

MemberThe Pan is an incredible fishery, both amazed at how many rises can occur in a day as well as how many Simms wader hatches can also show up.
May is one of my favorite months there to fish, nonstop bug activity from 10am-3pm. My suggestion is, since that is a very popular month to fish there, find a spot, stay put and enjoy hatches all day or bounce around and find a few small spots to fish in between people, that’s the game. If you do the Toilet Bowl, go at 5-6am or right at dark. Last May we went to the big bend right below the Bowl and 3 cars were there already at 6:30….Crazy!
That or fish the Roaring fork, few crowds, lot’s of fish, though smaller and it can be fun!

MemberTodd-
Stop in at Frying Pan Anglers when you get there for the current fishing report. Cameron (one of the guides) has had some very nice photos on his Facebook page taken over the past few days and passes the info on “go to” flies to Art and Mike daily. Mike is another guide and probably had more days in the TB this winter than he would care to admit.
I don’t get up there until late June (I work for FPA in the Summer and live in the little cabin on the Taylor Creek property) but by all indications the Pan is fishing very well now and should continue to fish well into early May. Ruedi is currently @ 66.7% capacity, with an inflow of 277cfs and outflow of 72cfs.
Typically the flow for that time of year is in the 100-150cfs range, which is very easy to wade and even better for spotting fish.
If you need more historical info, including hatches, flies, flows, etc., try:
