Lando’s Pic = A lot of worms and stoneflies. We caught several fish that day that were so full that they were puking up all sorts of stuff. They were still content to keep eating though. What a great day!!

Plans, yea I’ve got plans…. 10 pound trout plans.

Also, hope to make it down to see Lando sometime.

My girls love to go fishing with me. The main thing, like others have said is not to force anything on them. Right now the five year old loves using her Tweedy Bird pole, and the two year old is content with petting the fish when they are caught. I don’t care when they start fly fishing if ever, I just want them to enjoy their time outdoors and with Dad. We take lots of things for them to do, like buckets and shovels, or trucks to drive in the dirt with. It is mostly just about fun.

Lando is right is son knows more about fishing than any kid his age, and most likely a lot of people on this board. He has always been disappointed in my skills. I never could “get it close enought to the bank” for him. You can’t imagine his disappointment when I would miss a fish. Like Lando said though, he is flyfishing know, and it gives me a chance to rag on him a little.

    Congradulations Joel!!

However, now that you are an “outfitter” stay off of my section of river, it was bad enough having a “guide” there all of the time. ;D

On second thought, come all that you want, I need someone to take my picture.

    Joel,

I can’t go Wednesday, but I think any other evening would work. The spillway is a little slow right now. I was there on Saturday and Sunday and it wasn’t real great. Six fish in about ten hours total, one good brown though. Once we start to get some runoff it will turn on, but until then I think it will be a lot of fishing and not much catching. However, I am always up for fishing so let me know if you want to go.

Joel, how dirty is the water, know that they have done the bypass?

Joel, I floated the Mo. with the other wrestling coach from here. It was kind of funny because being a gear head he was worried about me “finding a hatch” when we planned the trip. I told him not to worry about me that I would find fish rising or not. By the end of the day he realized if the fish were biting his crocadile they were biting my streamers.

Friday evening or Saturday are the only days I could do it this week.

Awesome pictures. Looks like a great trip, too bad you didn’t get to cast to those tarpon. We should meet up sometime before you get busy.

Joel is right, all of the good spots I know of are in Colorado. Let us know where you’ll be and how far you can travel, and I might be able to think of someplace to catch at least a whitefish in Montana.

in reply to: Montana at the end of May #24391

Why Lando I have no idea what you are refering to. ;D Seriously, there could be a lot of potential spots. Mostly depends on runoff. I don’t know much about the northwest part of the state. Although I think they will most likely have a pretty good runoff this year.

Does your dad have graphite in his hand in that picture?

in reply to: Spring Break #24363

Very nice Mark. Did you fish the Juan too?

Like Patrick I hate you, I had to spend my spring break fishing is Montana. I hate this place, wish I could have been in Colorado.

We ended up floating from Craig to the Mid-Canyon takeout. The weather was great, and the fishing pretty good also. I did well with streamers all day, and the guy I went with was throughing gear and did pretty well also. We both caught about 20 fish, mostly browns with a few rainbows. After we finished the float we went back to a stretch just below Craig and he did real well jigging. It was a fun day. Here are some pictures, the first one is a brown I caught and then a brown he caught. Maybe I’ll post more when he emails them to me.

    Thanks Dave and Joel.

Joel there are some fish beginning to show up in the usual spot, just for your information.

in reply to: montana fishing march / april #22650

For the life of me I can’t understand why people get so uncomfortable around us, Lando. What’s wrong with two grown men fishing right next to each other and calling each other pookie.

in reply to: montana fishing march / april #22645

Lando… is April for sure. I would suggest more into May.

    in reply to: American Angler……Page 45 #21889

This is on day four or five when we are tired of catching fish so we switch hit for awhile.

A little lunch time fun with paint. Remembered right at the end that I should have left room for Lando’s Dad sitting on the bank looking at us with disgust.

    “Syncornized Fly-Fishing”

in reply to: Blood Knot Question #21980

Sorry Patrick, but a blood knot is not two clinch knots. Tying two clinch knots together is very weak, because there is such a small area on the connection that a lot of abrasion will occur at that point.

Some people are just good at not getting caught. ;D
