Yea go the Wallabees, bu Geez DA , you are getting cocky pretty fast , remember there are 3 more Bleidsloe Cup games to go this year, as exciting as it was to thump the Kiwi’s , I wouldn’t be counting anything yet let alone my green & Gold Chickens.
I spoke with some dour southlanders today and the silence re the rugby was deafening…..one of them was even talking Netball…… ::)

Interesting thread, and obviously lots of opinions out there.

I rarely use Fluro. Even in the Gin clear freestone rivers of NZ where we usually throw 18-22 feet of leader & tippett down to 6x.

Isn’t the idea to have the fish see the fly first NOT the tippett?

I like both Rio Powerflex and Froghair in mono neither of which have ever let me down. For chucking big foam flies the stiffness of the brown Maxima is hard to beat.

Tha only application I can find for Fluro is for very fussy surface feeders in low flow, glassy conditions where it is important to have the tippet sink. Rio Fluroex plus or ย Frog Hair Fluro is great ( in 6 & 7x anyway)
For real heavy nymphing where a level Fluro leader helps you get down quick, ย and in the salt where abrasion is an issue I like Nitlon….

    All this and a Jeff Koons exhibition… wow… what a trip…

For the folks who are sure who Jeff Koons is… A quick description would be… He is the modern day Andy Warhola who looks like a conservative banker and has a factory of folks creating crazy pop art paintings and sculptures.

Way off topic for a fly fishing site but I had to acknowledge the “high art” part of this trip.

    Nice summary Kevin.

For those still in the dark.

The NYC skyline made it all the more dramatic.

Especially for a Guy from Milton ย (a very small town) NSW Australia ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    Hi Si, Neal,
I have the F754/3 and it is a cracker. It will be the 4 wt I take to Montana next month…. I think.

I also have a Custom built South Fork Rod Co,(Dave Redington) 6’6 2 wt which is my fav 2 wt.
It was cheaper than the Scott and is a real honey, and can turn over flies that my graphite 2 wts don’t have a chance of

    Hey Todd,
    I couldn’t agree more.
I got hold of a Xi2 990 and matched it with a SA LA 890 Reel for mey recent Bonefishing trip and I love it to bits. It is a rod that you don’t have to think too much about casting , you just Cast !!!

My brother who was fishing a Loomis GL4 8 wt reckoned that in the hand the Xi2 9 felt more like a 7 wt such is its balance and lightness. Fishing hard all day was never an issue.
