I’ve only seen the northern half of the States…..but Bozeman or Livingston Mt would be 2 places that I could easily live…for a whole host of reasons , not least the fishing

‘Humor ‘ us Aaron………… give me a break…it is more like lavishing your shots on us ..thanks …………. 🙂 🙂
We rarely get Autumn colours like that here..

You make me want to jump on a plane and head back across the Pacific……… not that I could afford to with the exchange rate being as it is just now… >:(
so I will just check out your shots a bit more & dream some more until I can afford another ‘tour’……. I might have to get you to drag me around a bit next time

Hi Morsie, very nice…….. as usual.
Don’t get too sunburnt up north and watch out for the King Brown snakes  😉

Joel , I can’t tell you how Paranoid about fishing on my own I was over your way in July.Early on in my trip I spent a day right up the top of the St Joe, with forest around my ears and no one in sight all day and I was wishing that snakes were the only ‘critters’ out there Ha Ha. I didn’t have a Bell , or spray , but anyone who has heard me sing would probably say that after a few verses there wouldn’t be any critters sane enough to stay anywhere close  ;D
When I hit the more popular waters of Montana though, the realisation that I was unlikely to get any water completely to myself calmed me somewhat.

These are Red Bellied Black Snakes… When mating , they can be quite aggresive, but most times they are pretty docile. On a few occasions I have had one slide over my boot when stalking a pool… a bit startling but they are usually earger to get away as quickly as possible.

As Morsie said , Tiger Snakes are NOT docile, and most folks who get bitten have usually upset them in some way.

No Grizz or Mountain Lions here……Phew.. ;D
Nothing will actually eat you in the South East of the Country , although in the Upper Murrumbidgee of the Snowy mountains area Wild dogs are becoming a problem.
These are Dingo /Domestic dog crosses that hunt in packs killing wallabys, sheep and calves and can get as big as a Rotweiler or German shepherd…..Not good !!

When in the Bush here it is important to remember that 9 out of 10 of the worlds most deadly snakes call Australia home……..

    Great Mike,
I was on the Firehole on the July 4 weekend…………….the exact opposite to your experience…….. and as an Aussie that was a big shock.

Typically I don’t encounter ANYONE everytime I fish my favourite streams here…………

Ok, Now you have all made me hungry…………….

Down here in Milton ……away from the bright city lights and all that sophisticated BBQ technique, we like to keep it simple.

As we have quite a tribe and as most of the Girls now arrive home for Sunday lunch chauferred by some young hopeful, we usually have 10+ mouths to cater for and we usually do it like this:

    – 1 WHOLE Scoth Fillet, about 2 – 2.5 kg( about 6 lbs)
crush 5-6 cloves aof garlic chop fine and sprinkle in some ground

    You Southlanders are different.

Yep Zach, they’re an odd bunch, but we have to be nice to them so they let us over to fish.. 😉 😀

Do We ???, I thought we just quietly followed them to their best rivers and then jumped in 100m upstream………………  😀

I must qualify Dave’s BBQ description…………thats just for Sydney Softc….c’s

Out here in the real world the Women drink Beer too, the Kids will drive you all home and there’s no such thing as a sausage…………. Its all Rump  😉

    Nice Report Bill

Lee , there is a fair bit of discussion about the fish that inhabit Lake Taupo as to weather they are Rainbows or Steelhead.
I believe that the original fish that were put in Taupo in the late 1800’s were a strain of Steelies, but down here in Oz and in NZ they are reffered to as Rainbows.

Bill is spot on with his references to Zane Grey and the Duchess Pool and the winter spawn run fishery is legendary.

This fresh run silver bullet  hen is a good example of a Tongiraro fish

You guys are far more familiar with Steelies than me but there is a difference between it and  the fish below which is the more normally encountered NZ South Island resident Rainbow hen.

LONDON (Sept. 16) – If a man’s home is his castle, then maybe his car is his trash can: A study found the typical car has 283 different types of bacteria present in every square inch.
Microbiologists from Britain’s Aston University found the dirtiest part of the vehicle was the gear stick, home to 356 germs on a square centimeter.
One in four of 1,376 car owners polled said their car is littered with food wrappers and empty drink bottles, while one in six admitted to regularly leaving uneaten food in their vehicle.
Half of the drivers admitted the standard of cleanliness in their car left much to be desired and they would never let their home get into the same condition.
The study also found a strong correlation between the mileage of the car and the bacterial and fungal air quality………………………….

    Not quite on topic but…………

Didnt you know – those Aussies are upside down and ever the water in their toilet spins another direction.

Yeah this is what happens if we try to use US designed Toilet bowls down here…….
