I saw one of these while driving in ME and almost crashed the car.
To find a good builder in Houston I would suggest identifying a local BB and asking around on there (or maybe a local fly shop).

Also, and I’m not trying to argumentative or anything, but Patrick is probably talking about a doubled multi overhand knot.
Yeah…It’s not that really need help with the blood knot; I just can’t do it as quickly or as easily as I would like to (or while standing). I’ve practiced it and I just think it’s a pain; particularly in the cold. That’s why I’ve started using this other knot, but I don’t know which is truly better/stronger.
I really want to know the name of that knot that I’ve described above. It’s seriously driving me crazy. I’ve burnt about two work hours trying to track it down on the internet. I suppose I should have called this post “help me identify this knot” because all that I’ve really ascertained (in the two hours) is that it’s not a variation of a blood knot. It’s like a speed surgeons knot or something. Now that I’ve wasted half a day on this thing I really want to run a little experiment to see if it really is stronger than a blood. I kind of doubt it, but they say a surgeons knot can be? stronger than a blood knot and I do believe this is akin to a surgeons knot.
Ian thanks for the tip. I will give the SST a look. The cuff’s are paramount for me, or else its just a rain jacket. With that in consideration I really don’t mind spending the extra 40%.
I’m on board with the overpriced complaint though…there is nothing worse than going into your local REI to watch some dude spend (or get convinced to spend) $400 on a four season tent that he’s going to use twice a summer with his wife and kids. There are a lot of products out there that are worth the money, and a lot that aren’t. There are a lot of people out there that use these products to their fullest potential, but even more that don’t. Just don’t buy the stuff if you are in one of the latter two categories because it makes it all more expensive for those of us that actually use/need it.
Its pretty disappointing to hear such bad reviews on the G3 Jacket. That pretty much makes it (in my eyes) a $400 rain jacket with some zingers glued to the front.
Bob. I’ve got a filson vest. It has a pocket just for pocket watches. It also is very cool.
