I’m looking for a good website with some information on vintage fly reels.

    Hey Andrew –

A couple good websites to check out are the Classic Fly Rod Forum’s excellent vintage reel board, which is here:

    http://clarksclassicflyrodforum.yuku.com/forums/72/t/Classic-Reels.html

    (Hardy artwork by yours truly)

…as well as the Fiberglass Fly Rod Forum, which I am having trouble finding (but I know Cameron is a member).

For books, check out D.B. Homel’s “Antique Fishing Reels,” which I see is currently out of print:

    http://www.amazon.com/Antique-Fly-Reels-History-Value/dp/1879522144/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1199374704&sr=8-1

That will link you through to a number of other book spots.

Andrew…the link to the Fiberglass Flyrodders website…specifically the Classic Fly Reels page is here:

    http://p099.ezboard.com/ffiberglassflyroddersfrm22

The Click and Pawl thread has tons of good information and photographs to go over page by page.  The thread is on page 14 right now…so a lot of time and work has been put into it.

Please feel free to PM or email me if you have any questions.  I might not know the answer…but I know a few good sources I can tap in to.

WARNING…collecting…and fishing vintage reels is pretty addicting.  Just so you know…

    Zach I would certainly agree.

Cameron – Thanks for the link.

I too have been bitten by the old fly gear collecting bug. Probably just because I am cheap. I have a bunch of old Pfluegars which I got off ebay. I use 1495’s for my 6-8wts and have several extra spools loaded with different lines. For my 3 wt, I use a Martin “tuna can” clicker, which weighs about 3 ozs. Models 60-63 are all similar, the 60 being the smallest. I picked up several of them for less than $10 each shipped on ebay.
Be careful, you are going down a slippery slope. I’ll see you at the bottom.
