Hey guys, I have a question? I have been out of the fly fishing game for a few years (Wife,Kids, Service Rifle Shooting ect….) and I have a few SAGE Rplxi rods that I used to fish. Are the new SAGE rods really any better that the older Rlpxi rods? The reason I ask is that I have  6, 7, 8 and 10 weight Rplxi rods and since the layoff (5 years) it seems that the ST.Croix 8 weight seems to cast a little better and sure is alot eaiser for me to cast. Maybe my casting has changed? I have a GPX SA line on the 6 and it’s hammer on big creeks. The 7 and 8 are lined up one size with SA Bass Bug taper and they cast pretty well but, it sure seems like they are more work than the ST.Croix 8 weight. What gives? It seems that I can feel the #8 St.CROIX load up on the back cast. I must really work to get the same feel out of the Rplxi’s. With the sage rods I can cast a little longer but, it seem like work. By the way Zack, nice forum. Dub out…..

To answer your question are the newer Sage rods better, I would have to answer yes. But keep in mind that there is a lot of guys out there that would kill to get there hands on RPLXi, me being one of them. The newer Sage rods are very nice and great all around rods. Does this mean that you should go out and by new rods, no. I notice that you were using SA lines, have you tried any Rio lines yet? Its worth giving a shot.

Of course the newer Sage rods are better, but that doesn’t really mean you need one.

I would have to say better is 100% opinion of the user.
