All of us that call the Hooch home know that it has been a touchy subject and we also know how delicate and poor the run is in comparison to rivers like the Cumberland.

Two years ago I would have been pretty PO’ed that you are doing a seminar about stripes in the hooch through Atlanta but these days its pretty common knowledge. Between NGTO and GON the information has long been out there, and Chris Scalley’s guys were running guide trips for them last summer. I guess the info is out there if you want it, the only saving grace is that most anglers do not have the persistence to fish for 5 days without getting a fish.

If I were you though I would be careful as to what you tell people location wise or you will likely have 50 people fishing your holes every time you show up to fish this summer.

Looks like yall had fun. How did the rod do? I had a battery issue and could not make it out in the boat last weekend.

Question: Some buddies and I are planning a week-long trip to Montana and Yellowstone next August, flying in and out of Bozeman. There are six of us. Any tips on traveling with a group on a fly-fishing trip?

    Six cars, six hotel rooms!

At least this is my answer after getting back from a 10-man skiing and fishing trip last weekend.

    How was the fishing?

If I were you I would look for a reasonably priced lodge, that way you don’t have to spend all of your time debating over decisions between a big group.

Mike, I purchased a 17-55mm 2.8 IS eariler this year for my 30D and I would strongly reccomend it. I found it used on POTN for $835 and it looks brand new. The image clarity between it and the 18-55 is incredible. Of the three lenses that you mentioned, i would lean towards the new 15-85. Here is a link to POTN’s lens sample photo archive http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=141406
They keep running threads of user photos from most Canon compatible lenses.

Excellent Podcast! I like Tim’s closing remarks that line choice is as important as anything else. I couldn’t agree more!

Seems like there really aren’t any bad rods on the market anymore, Just poor Rod/Line combinations.

    1. Can anyone explain the point of shooting doves?

Opening weekend of dove season in the South is a family event that typically falls around labor day.

Dove are a migratory bird that can be in a field by the hundreds one day and gone the next. When they are flying good, you have them coming in every minute or two in groups of one to three or four. It is a blast to hold out, lead and shoot them as they seem to come from all directions, turn on a dime, drop 20′ on you. They also taste great on the grill or smoked and bacon wrapped similar to quail.

Dave, how does the new gun shoot?

My shotgun is an over/under.  I had only eight shells; they weren’t all in the gun at once.  Do they even make a shotgun that will hold eight shells?

    Zach

you can get tactical home defense shotguns that hold like 8 or 10 shells, obviously they would be pretty tough to swing for birds.

you need to go on a really good dove hunt and you will be hooked

One of my favorite floats just above yankee jim on the yellowstone, one of my favorite rivers. My wife outfished me that day and my friend Will Fenoglio did a great job on the oars through the class 3s.

in reply to: Seat Cover Help #46754

does your trailblazer have the seatbelt in the seat? something to lookout for

They do come out of the seat I noticed a couple of the manufacturers did ask this question it must be a very custom fit.

I have a tahoe with this and i looked for a cheaper option than the wet okole or similar and struck out because they all cover up the seatbelt. if you find something under $100 i would love to know
